Greetings!

We have a lot happening in the next few months. This month on June 25th our Polk County Caucus will be held to choose the delegates for Presidency 5 in September. You have until June 10th to register on line if you would like to be a delegate.  In July, we will have Senator George LeMieux as our guest speaker,  he is currently running for the Florida Senate seat held by Democrat Bill Nelson.  In August, Senator Haridopolos will be our guest speaker, he too is running for the U.S. Senate seat.

Each month, we are presenting checks to local schools and educational facilities from our Spring for Education event.  Periodically we run across a school that needs common sense supplies for the school.  We'd like to ask you to participate this year in helping us stock Southwest Elementary school with some needed supplies.  Look for the list in this month's newsletter. We would like you to bring the items you purchase to the luncheon in June and July so we can present them to the school during the August luncheon.  We know the schools greatly appreciate our help and with the steep budget cuts this year, they need our help even more.

We want to welcome Paula Dimbath to the board. Paula has graciously volunteered to be our new Treasurer. If you haven't had a chance to meet her, she will be at the check in table for our luncheon. Paula has worked for her husband,  builder Paul Dimbath, for years, doing his book work and office work. Now that she is "retired" she has more time to donate to our club.

Congratulations to Terry Mann Capps!  Betty Rust and I attended Terry's wedding on June 4. She looked like a fairy princess.  You all had a chance to meet her new husband Jim Capps at the fashion show, he was our photographer! Terry and Jim are off to North Carolina for a week to honeymoon in the mountains then they will return to Lakeland.  We wish them the best in their new life together.

We have received membership cards from the NFRW for 2011.  Kay Cobb will be handing them out at the luncheon this month. Make sure to pick yours up. On the card is information for you to access the NFRW website which gives you the national news on politics as well as club information and the information on the upcoming convention in Kansas City.

Dr. Snyder will be addressing constitutionalism and character at our luncheon this month, discussing in part the Clinton Impeachment. Dr. Snyder will also have available his book that he wrote on the subject. The book sells for $10.00.

I look forward to seeing you all at this month's luncheon.

Dr Alan Snyder is our Speaker this Month!
Dr Snyder Book

Dr. K. Alan Snyder is professor of American history and chair of the Department of Historical, Legal, and Leadership Studies at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida. He has developed a course on conservative icon Whittaker Chambers and another course on Ronald Reagan and Modern American Conservatism, courses not typically found in American higher education.

He will be speaking to our group about constitutionalism and character.  Make your reservations today!

Reminders!
Everyone attending the luncheons must check in with the ladies at the front table.  This includes both members and guests.  We appreciate your assistance with this, as it helps us with our record-keeping.

We can only accept cash or check for luncheon payments!
Storage Unit
We now have a storage unit to hold any and all items belonging to the Republican Women's Club of Lakeland, Federated.  If you have items that are in your home (for example, decorations, paperwork, etc), please let Dena know.  She will make arrangements for you to move it into the storage unit and free up that space in your home!
Southwest Elementary Needs Donations!

Kids

We would like to collect the following items to help stock the supplies for Southwest Elementary school.  Please bring your items during the June and July meetings so we can present them to the school during the August meeting.  The school really appreciates your help!

  • dry erase markers
  • sheet protectors (smooth glossy surface)
  • #2 school pencils
  • baby wipes
  • clorox wipes
  • glue sticks
  • colored pencils
  • facial tissues
  • hand sanitizer
