Ilmor Marine MV8 6.0L Engine Now Compliant with BSO Stage II Emissions Regulations
Ilmor Marine, LLC has announced that a specially calibrated MV8 6.0L marine engine has been approved by the Lake Constance District Authority as compliant with BSO Stage II regulations and emissions standards, effective 19 May, 2011.
Ilmor Marine obtained the Bodensee Schiffahrts Ordnung (BSO) Type Approval as a result of a special development project to produce a specific engine calibration designed to reduce exhaust emissions while maintaining the performance of the Ilmor MV8 6.0L engine.
"The BSO approval of the MV8 6.0L is a great achievement," says Ronald A. Brown, President of Ilmor Marine. "It offers recreational boaters in the Bodensee region a powerful, yet environmentally sensitive engine choice to enjoy the pleasures of boating in one of the most beautiful and utmost environmentally-conscious areas of the world."
All Ilmor MV8 and current high performance MV10 marine engines already conform to US EPA, California ARB and EU-RCD (CE) regulations and standards. Of note, Ilmor's high-performance MV10 725 engine is the most powerful gasoline engine certified for new sale by the EU-RCD.
Ilmor has over twenty years of race-winning engineering history, as well as nearly a decade of performance powerboat drivetrain production. Ilmor's MV8 and MV10 marine engines are built to the same stringent engineering standards as their world-renowned race engines, and are ideally suited for uses ranging from competitive water sports to high-performance offshore powerboating. The engines range from 280 HP to 725 HP, and utilize Ilmor-developed parts and systems designed to increase overall performance and reliability.
