Patti Travels to Florida, Rhonda Travels to Haiti to Help Those in Need

We are so lucky to have such dedicated and giving members on our dental care team. So far this year two from our staff have traveled with a non-profit to complete a community service project. Here are their stories:

Patti Post, part of our front desk team, traveled to Hernando, Florida to build homes with Habitat for Humanity. She worked with the homeowner-to-be whose family, which includes two children, will be moving from their substandard housing into a beautiful newly built house in May.

"Habitat for Humanity is a hand up not a hand out since all homeowners must do 500 hours of sweat equity work in order to qualify for their home," says Patti. "Meeting and working with the new homeowners reinforces why HFH is important and why it works." Patti looks forward to more building. (And we think she looks awesome working that circular saw, too! Go Patti!)

Rhonda Souder-Ruth, R.D.H., the first hygienist to join our practice in 1993, traveled to Haiti in February. "Our family" (she went with her husband and 2 daughters) traveled with a service group from our church, to help with the Water for Life Organization, drilling wells in areas where clean water is so desperately needed. Our week was busy, assisting WFL in many different ways...digging ditches, painting, cleaning, welding, cooking, and much more!"

"Thanks to the generosity of WRR, we were able to take along many supplies that were given to the village mid-wives, caretakers, and schools," says Rhonda. "Giving something as simple as a toothbrush and toothpaste to the children, gave us the memory of their smiles and joy which we will always remember! We came home with the love of the Haitians in our hearts and the joy of serving as a cherished family experience."

Why We Love The Summer So Much

We get to march in the 45th Annual Harleysville Parade and see all of our patients and friends along the route! That's Saturday, May 26th, parade starts at 11am at Indian Valley Middle School. We're making plans now. Last year we rode behind a pair of huge Clydesdale horse, which was very cool!

Tuesday, July 17th is Patient Appreciation Movie Night at the Sellersville Theater. A super fun night. We always pick a family-friendly film, and give out popcorn and drinks.

And Sunday, Aug 19th is Patient Appreciation Day at Rita's. Come by for a free water ice scooped out by your favorite WRR staff. We also collect donations for the Keystone Opportunity Center. Stay tuned, more details will follow in our May to August eNews.

Events For a Good Cause

One of our favorite events coming up is the 25th Annual Sundae Concerts which start on June 3rd and run until August 5th. Join your neighbors and friends on Sunday evenings for live music at Souderton Community Park. There will be ice cream plus local artists will be displaying their works. The concerts are free, and local community organizations will sell refreshments. Held at Souderton Community Park, Wile Avenue and Reliance Road in Souderton, PA 18964. See you there!

We are very pleased to welcome Sherry Landis, who joined the front desk staff at WRR in March of 2012. She graduated from Lansdale School of Business with an Associates degree in Computer Applications Management. Her favorite thing about working at WRR is "that everybody is so nice and helpful!"
