February is National Children's Dental
Health Month
Lori Hunsberger, one of our receptionists, taught her daughter, Reese, (pictured) and her classmates at New Friends Nursery School about how to keep their teeth healthy. The children got to practice on a special yellow puppet.
We like to see kids around age two for a visit to "get a ride in the chair", quickly "count" the teeth and polish if all is going well. Kids get a new toothbrush and a prize. This positive experience sets the tone for a lifetime of preventive care and a healthy mouth.

Enter Our February Raffle
Every month we celebrate our patients and the local business community by holding an office raffle. Past prizes have included gift certificates, dinners, and more. To win you must be a new or current patient.
Our February monthly contest is for the ladies or the one you love. On February 28, each office will choose a winner of a Mary Kay Gift Box valued at $25 for Valentine's month. Come back each month to enter.

Sharing the Love
 Every year we give out carnations to our patients on Valentines Day. It's just our way of showing how much we care. (You might want to remember this when you make your appointment for 2012). Thanks to Phyllis Moyer for letting us take her photo with her flower.

Celebrating the 2011 Grammy Award Winners
 We've downloaded many of the winners for best song and vocalists from the 2011 Grammy Awards on our office iPods for you to enjoy. You can listen to Record of the Year: Need You Now by Lady Antebellum, Best Female Country Vocalist: The House That Built Me by Miranda Lambert, and Best Male Pop Vocalist: Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars, to name a few. Happy Birthday, George Washington
 Today, Tuesday February 22, is George Washington's real birthday, and in his honor we want you to know the real facts about his, you guessed it, teeth. His favorite dentist, John Greenwood, made several sets of dentures for Washington during his lifetime, and none of them were made from wood. Instead they were carved from hippopotamus ivory and elephant ivory. Visit the National Museum of Dentistry's website to learn more. |
