Tech Tip #13 - Cooling System Advice
I only need to think about my antifreeze in the winter.....right?
WRONG!!!
The cooling system is just as important in the summer! Pulling your boat or camper and having an overheating problem is no fun, and hard on your vehicle.
Why? Over an extended period of time, antifreeze becomes a very corrosive product that will plug the small passages in the radiator and the heater core as well as corrode the block, waterpump and cylinder heads. Even with the "extended life antifreeze" in the newer cars today I still recommend changing the antifreeze every 3 to 4 years this will help to prevent any corrosion damage.
So, when was the last time your cooling system was flushed?
One more thing...
As we discussed in the Car Care Awareness Class last month - Your radiator cap can be dangerous! DO NOT remove the cap unless your vehicle is completely cool. We don't want anyone getting burnt!

Recipe Corner - Grilled Eggplant My favorite Eggplant recipe is also VERY easy!
1 large Eggplant, Peeled 2 T Olive Oil 1 T Lawry's Seasoned Salt Parmesan Cheese Slice Eggplant into 1 inch thick circles and put on a plate. Drizzle with Olive oil and sprinkle with Lawry's. Let stand on plate for 15 minutes to let flavors blend. Grill over medium heat for 5-7 minutes, turning as needed until centers are soft. Sprinkle with Parmesan Cheese and serve hot.
How to pick out a good Eggplant:
The freshest eggplant will be firm. As they age, the skin turns darker and appears shinier. The seeds are located in the bottom of the fruit - opposite side of the stem. The fatter the eggplant=the more seeds it will have. Eggplants shaped like the one pictured above, consistent in size from top to bottom, are usually the best choice. Select a firm purple eggplant for this recipe. |
