Tech Tip #12 - 2 "Must Have" items to go with your Spare Tire

This month's tech tip comes after the Cassill Motors Car Care Awareness Class and is often overlooked - but very important.
When changing a tire along side the road 2 of the worst fears are....
#1. Not being able to get the lug nut loose with the multi use lug wrench that comes with the car
and
#2. The jack sinking or falling because of soft ground.
My solution to these problems:
#1: Purchase a 4way lug wrench at your local automotive store.
These come in a variety of sizes, so think about who the main driver is and buy the size that will help in assisting them in loosening the lug nut. This will also help to make sure the lugs are also tight enough (but remember over tightening is also bad).
#2: The second thing will be simple, cut yourself a base for the jack out of plywood!

This will give the jack a more stable footing, that way it won't tip or sink if you're along side the roadway in the gravel or grass.

PS. Thank you to everyone who came out to the class - I had a great time and I look forward to doing it again next month on June 7th!
