Greetings!
December is proving itself again this year, bringing cold temps, snow, and ice. Thankfully, in Iowa, we know what to do with winter. Whether you use a 4x4, Front Wheel Drive, AWD, or just some good snow tires to get around at this busy time of year, remember your friends at Cassill Motors are here for you.
I would like to take a moment and say "Thank you" for your continued friendship. I have been reminded again this month of the wonderful customers, friends, that we have by the many visitors that we have had. One of the newer members of our sales team commented to me that he had never worked somewhere with so many regular visitors... I just smiled. Thank you friends, we appreciate every one of you.
May I encourage you to smile, be a friend, and spread some cheer this year. Merry Christmas from the team at Cassill Motors!
Sincerely,
Stephanie Prochaska Cassill Motors

| Jay's Tech Tip # 7 | |
This month I would like to talk about:
Spark Plugs
& proper maintenance of sparkplugs
Our newer cars just about all run a platinum spark plug which recommends a service at around 100,000 miles, that is a good thing ...and a bad thing. The longer the plugs are in the engine the larger the "gap" gets. Improper gap of the spark plugs can cause poor fuel economy and hard starting -especially in this cold weather.
I recommend inspecting the plugs around 50,000 miles.
Also in reference to proper maintenance.... when reinstalling your plugs please use an antisieze compound to prevent the plug from sticking in the cylinder head.
This reminds me of a little story about one of my favorite Uncles (We will call him Uncle Blank to protect the innocent). Well, "Uncle Blank" decided to replace the plugs in his 3.8 Ford by himself without the proper tools. When the spark plug didn't "bend" it broke off ...half in the cylinder head and the other half in his hand! ...and yes it was cylinder #1, the cylinder you can't see, and can barely touch! After some discussion, (and harassing) we chipped out the broken off plug and installed the rest for him.
Awesome guy but he should have never touched cars & tools. -RIP Uncle Lynn, the Cassill family loves you!

Thought for the day...
The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above average drivers.

| Warm up with Hot Cider |
| | Apple Mugs |
Ingredients:
8 cups apple cider or apple juice
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon whole allspice
2 3x3/4-inch strips orange peel
Apples for Apple Mugs (directions below)
Thin orange wedges and/or cinnamon sticks (optional)
Directions
1. In a large saucepan combine cider and brown sugar. For spice bag, place cinnamon, allspice, cloves, and the orange peel in center of a double-thick, 6-inch-square of 100% cotton cheesecloth. Bring corners of the cheesecloth together and tie with a clean string. Add spice bag to the saucepan with cider mixture.
2. Bring mixture to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, for 15 minutes. Remove spice bag and discard. If desired, serve cider in Apple Mugs. If desired, garnish with orange wedges and/or cinnamon sticks.
3. Apple Mugs: Cut the tops off of 8 very large apples (about 3 1/2- to 4-inches in diameter). Press 2 1/2-inch ice cream scoop into the cut surface of apple to to form and edge about 1/2 inch thick around the edges of the apples. Use a melon baller to scoop out the center of apples, taking care not to scoop out too close to the bottom and sides of apples. If desired, brush inside "mugs" with lemon juice to prevent browning.
