FALLEN FRUIT OF UTAH: SEE YOUR FRUIT ART IN A MUSEUM THIS SUMMER!

SEND US YOUR FRUITwhite-bar-spacer

This summer artist collective Fallen Fruit will present Fallen Fruit of Utah, an exhibition exploring the history of Utah through the story of its fruit. But in order to succeed, Fallen Fruit needs your fruit objects:

"We are creating a collection of objects that tells the story of fruit in Utah families - both current and throughout history.  Please consider your family as a valuable representative of Utah and the spirit of the pioneers!

"We are interested in everyday objects, drawings, paintings, photographs or mementos that tell a story about your family and it must relate to fruit in one way or another (regardless of how abstract).   Are there special dishes that have fruit painted on them? Or heirloom furniture with carved fruit ornamentation? Or earrings, or jewelry? Waxed fruit, paintings- old or new, personal or collected art, handwritten or typed recipes from your great aunt. Was canning or jamming central to your family? Maybe your aunt or uncle photographed landscapes and some of those pictures are of fruit trees?  We are interested in all kinds of fruit-related objects for this exhibition!"

To have your fruit objects considered, submit jpegs along with the story of the object to fallenfruit@slartcenter.org by May 15.

In this latest iteration, BYU Art Professor Peter Everett transforms the interior of our old vegetable truck into a stunning multimedia exploration of Utopia, a paradise on earth.  Everett's creation grows from his own childhood associations with freight vans as he recalls his family frequently moving from town to town, always headed for "a better place."
