Remembering Corey Haim

For those of you reading this who are women in their mid to late 30s, there is a good chance that Corey Haim graced the walls of your bedroom, lined your school locker door and occasionally made appearances in your dreams.  We fell for the lovable geek Lucas(Lucas 1986), feared for Sam's soul(The Lost Boys 1987), and empathized with Les's plight(License To Drive 1988).  But little did we know that beneath the endearing characters that Haim created was a troubled

teen, who became a troubled adult addict.  As an advocate of the 80s, it is unthinkable to me that Hollywood, who in part created a great deal of the torment in Haim's life, could not recognize the life and works of an actor and true 80s teen idol after his tragic death in March 2010.  His infectious smile appeared on countless magazine covers,

often times accompanied by long time friend and Co-star, Corey Feldman.  It had appeared that Haim was headed in the right direction, getting involved in more projects in front of, as well as behind the cameras.  Feldman and Haim reunited after several years to star in and produce A&E's show The Two Coreys, which chronicled the sometimes tumultuous ups and downs of their friendship.  The series was canceled before filming of the second season concluded, the last episode airing in the summer of 2008.  Over the next couple of

years, Haim appeared in a few roles, including reprising his role in Lost Boys 2: The Tribe(2008), Crank 2: High Voltage(2009), and
Det. Lou Andreas, his last starring role in Decisions, due to be released nationally April 15, 2011.  Please join me in honoring Corey Haim's memory... go see the movie!
