The Titus Institute for Church Planting
The Titus Institute is excited to announce a new partnership with the Church Multiplication Network (CMN) to provide intensive training for those who are planting a church within the next 12-24 months. Our partnership enables us to provide more opportunities for training each year at more locations around the country. Titus coaches will be available at each of the boot camps listed below to help planters from sacramental traditions to contextualize the learning process from a liturgical perspective.
CMN has developed a week-long training event in which an experienced team of church planters comes alongside prospective planters and their teams to walk through the process of starting a new church. Critical focus areas are: vision, mission, values, team, strategy and evaluation. This collaborative learning environment also provides the opportunity to develop relationships with others on the same journey. The goal is to produce strong, healthy reproducing churches by helping planters answer six questions:
- What does God want to do? (What is His vision for the community?)
- Who am I? (How will my gifts, skills, values and leadership style affect this ministry?)
- What am I sent to do? (What is my specific assignment in this community?)
- Who will do it with me? (How do I recruit people to fulfill God's vision?)
- How will we do it? (What steps will we take to start a healthy church?)
- How will we evaluate our progress? (Are we accomplishing what God wants us to do?)
Like the Titus training process currently available, the CMN process is based on an adult learning model built on direct involvement and group interaction as opposed to didactic, lecture-based presentations. CMN has developed an excellent program that they have used successfully over many years. Here are the dates and locations of the training sessions currently on the calendar:
2012 Boot Camps:
1. Phoenix: January 30 - February 3.
2. Columbus: March 26-30.
3. Sacramento: April 30-May 4.
4. Dallas/Ft. Worth: May 14 -18
To register for a boot camp, click on the link
Select the boot camp you wish to attend and click on Register. Under District, enter Anglican. This will ensure you will be working with a Titus coach at the boot camp.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mary Beth Moore

Israel Trip |
Garden of Gethsemane May 26-June 5, 2012 Trace the life of Jesus from His home in Galilee to Jerusalem, with particular attention to the influence of Jewish thought and culture of the period on the origins of Christianity. Achieve a better understanding of Jesus' ministry, His place among the Jewish people, and the application of His teachings for us today. The LeadershipThe trip is created as a ministry to clergy, lay leaders and their spouses. It will be led by a guide who is a committed believer in the Messiah, and is trained in the Scriptures and the history of Israel. Marcia and I will serve as co-leaders and hosts. We have been leading Israel trips for almost thirty years now. We have actually lost count! Our Familiarization trip in 2011 was deeply rewarding and we are anxious to offer this opportunity once more. The Focus
Our primary goal is to help you understand Jesus better... his teaching, ministry lifestyle, death, resurrection, ascension and Kingdom. We focus on the Jewish roots of the Christian faith to better understand the Kingdom of God and discipleship.
The Details and Cost
Tour Price from Jacksonville, FL: $3,495 per person based on double occupancy
Land Only: $1,756 per person, based on double occupancy
Single Supplement: $410 The price is set as close to actual cost as possible to make the program accessible to as many potential future tour leaders and spouses as we can. These familiarization trips, including airfare, costs less than many programs charge for only the land portion. Please let us know if we can be of any help as you consider joining us. And please pass this letter on to any leader who could potentially form groups to help others experience the Lord in Israel.
As is said at the end of every Jewish Passover meal, our hope is that you can join us "Next Year in Jerusalem!"
In the Messiah,
+Neil and Marcia Lebhar | |

We were born to serve
By David Garmus
In our Christian lives we are called to prayer, study, and action. The Gospel (Matthew 25:30-40) suggests a life style that we might try before we come face to face with God. While there are many ways to serve God, I am addressing God's request to visit the imprisoned, who I might add are also hungry, thirsty, strangers and have no clothing of their own. There are many opportunities available thru the Kairos Prison Ministry, which is international in scope and ministers to the incarcerated and their loved ones.
Kairos Prison Ministry International, Inc. (KPMI) is the parent organization of a body of ministries operating as chapters that are located in 36 states and 9 countries outside of the U.S. addressing the spiritual needs of incarcerated men, women, and youth as well as to their families. Kairos sprang from the Cursillo movement and is supported by Christian volunteers including those from Cursillo and other weekend movements that consider Cursillo as their root. We in Kairos believe that the Bible is God's authoritative and inspired Word for our faith and our lives; in the Trinity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; and in the deity, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

By sharing the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ, Kairos changes hearts, transforms lives, and impacts the world. As a ministry, Kairos embraces a diverse group of volunteers working together to fulfill Christ's call to action. Interdenominational teams of men or women volunteers bring God's unconditional love and forgiveness into correctional institutions for a weekend retreat to the same number of incarcerated men or women. The intent of the weekend is to convince inmates to trust in God and to seek strength thru Him and one another. Amazingly, with God's help, great things happen every time we go behind the walls.
New recruits are needed to join the teams that go inside the prison for the weekend, especially as our programs are expanding in number. We also need Christians around the world praying for our programs as we realize that it is God who softens hearts and not us. We need help in securing His blessings on all weekend retreats. We need posters from churches demonstrating God's love and offering encouragement on these holy weekends. Also, as with all charitable organizations, money is always an issue as we need support for the international office as well as the local councils, who conduct the weekends. It cost around $4000 to conduct a weekend. Typically, we do two weekends at each institution per year and a monthly reunion. If you would like information, you may contact me at garmus@comcast.net. Additional information is available on the Kairos websites: www.kairosprisonministry.org and www.mykairos.org.
There are three active programs in the Kairos Ministry; the one described above is known as Kairos Inside. A short description of the three programs follows:
Kairos Outside
Kairos Outside is a special weekend retreat designed to support the female loved ones of men and women who are or have been incarcerated. Families of the incarcerated "do time" right along with their loved ones. In a safe environment with loving people, women interact with other women who are in similar situations and learn to form small groups to support and give them strength for the challenges they face.

Kairos Torch
Kairos Torch offers unconditional love and acceptance, encouraging young men and women to share their life journey through participation in a long term mentoring process. The program begins with a weekend retreat inside the prison. Torch team members commit to a weekly mentoring process with the youthful offenders for six months after the weekend.
The Kairos method of talks, meditations, individual, and group activities is an invitation to live in a personal relationship with the living Christ. Kairos serves not only to help Christ in saving souls, but to put human lives in service - literally to transform men, women, and youth in prison environments as well as the female relatives of those who are incarcerated. The most important outcome of the weekend is to introduce the participants to Christ's love so as to enable them to produce a practical realization in their 4th day - the rest of their lives.
The Kairos method confronts individuals with their problems and personal history; Jesus Christ is presented as the only total solution. Their journey is supported in community by prayer and share groups, which provide the encouragement and safety for further exploration. It is this continuing community, where one finds the strength of ones perseverance and the most efficient way to spread apostolic action. The Kairos continuing ministry of reunions and spiritual retreats allows us in community to provide a more authentic, continuous, and vital Christianity that changes lives.

Anglican Church Stands by Catholics in Pursuit of Freedom of Conscience
Archbishop Robert Duncan released the following statement in support of the Catholic Church's fight to maintain freedom of conscience in the midst of the U.S. federal government issuing a preventive care mandate in violation of its teaching.
"The Anglican Church in North America stands by our Catholic brothers and sisters as followers of Christ in a nation whose Constitution guarantees 'the free exercise' of religion. As Christians, our faith and doctrine are at the very heart of our service to others in our community. Therefore, it is extremely troubling to see our government mandate services contrary to Catholic Church teaching. I call on all members of the Anglican Church to stand by our Catholic brothers and sisters, and pray for our elected officials to have the courage to stand up for religious freedom and overturn this mandate," said Archbishop Duncan.
Manhattan Declaration Petition
The Manhattan Declaration leadership has drafted a petition to the President. Please consider signing it (it only takes a few seconds). Also, if you haven't done so, consider signing the Manhattan Declaration as well. Some of you are involved with Christian ministries that will be affected by this mandate, but all of us need to be concerned about our freedom to exercise our faith in the public square.

St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Jacksonville, Florida
By 1915 a company known as the Hall Brothers was selling Valentine's Day and Christmas cards. The company later adopted the name Hallmark and its current slogan: "When you care enough to send the very best."
Hallmark was the first company to recognize Valentine's Day. They report some 141 million Valentine's Day cards sold worldwide. Valentine's Day is now a 16-billion-dollar industry with people all over the world persuaded to buy and give cards to their friends, relatives, and children.
The holiday is supposedly all about love. However, the emphasis in our society has become one of sexual or simply sentimental love.
It's only when we turn to God and His Church though that we find out what authentic love really is. Historically, there was a real St. Valentine. In fact, there were several, and history is a bit murky as to how and when February 14th became the day when the Church annually remembers St. Valentine.
There are many saintly images of St. Valentine, such as this one. I like it a lot.

I also like a more modern version like this one as well. The love that St. Valentine was all about was not mushy or erotic. It was the genuine sacrificial love that only God can give.
True love is the love of Jesus who gave Himself for us on the Cross. He said that we should love others as He has loved us. That's what we try to do at St. Andrew's Church. We'd love to have you join us to experience and share in the true love of God. He loves you so much that He transforms your life and the lives of all those you care about.
Come visit us every Sunday at 10:00 at the Hampton Inn, 8127 Point Meadows Drive 32257. For more information or to talk, call Jim McCaslin at 904-220-6594 or visit our website at www.saintadrewsjax.org. |

No, not for Jacksonville, Florida, where my home church is and where I lived for the past 16 years. No, not even for the U.S., where everything is familiar, orderly, clean. Where anything and everything is readily available. Where I can drink tap water that is clean. Where electricity is constant. Where there are stop signs and traffic lights, and people drive on the right side of the road. I am homesick for Uganda and the ministry God has called me to there.
Gulu, Northern Uganda. What a blast I had playing soccer with these girls! Canon Alison Barfoot and I were attending meetings with the management committee of The Father's House children's center and checking on the progress of the construction of the new homes. Outside, groups of children were playing soccer (football, to them). During a break I got involved playing with this group of girls and we became instant friends. They got such a kick out of the grey-haired muzungu (white) lady playing football. What fun we had together! Later in the day a group of the younger ones gathered around me while I read them some Bible stories - from my Kindle! Of course, they'd never seen one before and were quite curious about it. They were so sweet, and I was blessed to pray over them before we left.
Mbarara, Southwest Uganda. Meet Rt. Rev. Dr. Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa, bishop of Ankole Diocese, and his dear wife, Mama Alice. Look closely and you can see their youngest peeking around his dad - what a cute boy! In November I visited Bishop Sheldon and toured some of the diocese's ministries: Ruharo Mission Hospital and Eye Clinic, Uganda Bible Institute, Bishop Stewart University, and the technical/vocational school. I was struck by the sheer vastness of the diocese's ministries, which include health, education, and social services programs for thousands upon thousands of people in the area. And this is in addition to preaching the Gospel, identifying and raising up leaders, and making disciples for Christ.
So many opportunities for mission partnership!!!
It's been almost three months since I left Uganda for what I had anticipated would be a fairly short visit. Much good has come of my time here. The best thing of all is that God has confirmed, in my heart and in other ways, that Uganda is where I belong!
Mukama Asiimwe! (Praise the Lord!)

Right now I feel a bit like this baby monkey; a little sad, but hopeful, looking up for help. My eyes are on my Abba, Father, trusting in His provision so I can return to Uganda soon. Please be praying as well. Is our Abba asking you to partner with me in mission?
Contributions (tax-deductible) can be made online at www.samsusa.org, or mailed to SAMS, P.O. Box 339, Ambridge, PA 15003 (Please include my name)
