Historic Christ Church, The Mother Church of Georgia, is pleased to announce a new documentary titled "Stand
With Us". The 30-minute video documents the stand of Christ Church in defense of the historic Christian faith against anti-biblical, deceptive teachings found not only in the culture but also within many mainline denominations.

"The purpose of the documentary is to encourage a heightened awareness so others can more readily detect heresy
and take a stand against it," said David Reeves, Christ Church Senior Warden. "We want to share with others what we have learned in the process of standing firm for the historic faith. Also, because we are standing firm, we have more opportunities to proclaim the Gospel and spread the Good News of Jesus Christ," Reeves continued.

"Some lay persons as well as clergy in mainline denominations have succumbed to the allure of the secular culture.
Consequently, they have abandoned many of the standards set forth like a plumb line in Holy Scripture," said Christ
Church Rector, the Rev. Marc Robertson. "Some of these modern distortions present Jesus Christ as one "savior" among many, or the Holy Spirit as the inner voice of one's opinion, or human sexuality as a matter of personal preference. The often subtle accommodations are usually accompanied by a demand for total acceptance based on love," Robertson continued.

Currently Christ Church, founded in 1733, is defending itself in a 2007 lawsuit brought against it by a well-funded,
national organization, The Episcopal Church, and the Diocese of Georgia. Christ Church predates the founding of both entities, has never accepted money from them, and has not signed any documents agreeing to their implied trust, questionably adopted in 1979, that they own our property. "We believe the main issue is freedom of religion," stated Robertson, "freedom to worship as and where we have for over 275 years, and most importantly freedom to worship the Jesus of Holy Scripture and not a culturally-manufactured Jesus". The lawsuit, filed against the Christ Church corporation and individually against the rector and 2007 vestry members (elected governing board), is currently on appeal to the Georgia Supreme Court.

Should the ruling against Christ Church stand after all appeals are exhausted, then the congregation will be forced
out of its spiritual home and compelled to seek other facilities for worship and ministry. According to Christ Church leadership, Georgia churches which are even loosely affiliated with other organizational structures should be concerned: the title to their property may be in danger. Christ Church petitioned the state Supreme Court in order to stand firm against unbiblical teaching, bear witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, be good stewards of its Godly
legacy, and maintain justice. Also, church leaders hope to alert other churches in Georgia about these dangerous theological trends and legal issues.

Mr. Evan Hewitt is the Executive Producer and Director of this documentary. Mr. Hewitt graduated with a Master
of Fine Arts degree in film and television from the Savannah College of Art and Design. To schedule a presentation please call the church office at 912/232-4131. Representatives from Christ Church are available for a question and answer session following the presentation.
