Thoughts on Motherhood
Matriarch ~ a woman who rules or dominates a family, group, or state; specifically: a mother who is head and ruler of her family and descendants.
A mother has the most challenging, but rewarding job in the world. There is such great responsibility in raising and caring for the precious lives that you've created. Children don't come with handbooks, so it is a mother's duty to equip her children with the necessary tools to survive. A mother will sacrifice her life for her children if she had to. This is a unique kind of love that only she can give. Whether your mother is here now or has passed on, if you've experienced her love in your lifetime, then you are blessed.
I thank God for my mother who has always made motherhood look so easy; it's because of her beautiful spirit, kind, loving and nurturing ways. She has taught me to be strong and has always encouraged me to be the best I can be. The family values and morals that she has instilled in me I've passed on to my children. I also acknowledge my grandmothers and aunts who also had important roles in my life. They were the village that helped to raise me. I thank them for the gifts and the love they 've given me.
God has blessed me with two beautiful girls of my own, whom I love and will always sacrifice for. The even bigger blessing is having the opportunity to be a grandmother. God is so loving and kind, he gives us second chances. I now get to see the wonderful little things that I missed with my daughters through my granddaughters.
There have been times when I've doubted my skills as a mother. I've had moments when I've wished that I have done things differently. However, it brings me comfort knowing that I've done my best. To any mother who has ever doubted herself, know that if you love your children with all of your heart and have made sacrifices to provide for them, then you've done your very best.
Wishing you all a very blessed and Happy Mother's Day! |

Every Day Is Mother's Day Article Written by Cecilia Flagg

Blessings to mothers and nurturers all: You who give your entire lives to your families and loved ones, and always seem find a little more love to give. On this Mothers Day, if you don't already, give a little more love to you. Make your own health and happiness a top priority. Mother's Day is every day, because you're never really off the clock. Here are a few Mother reminder to help you check your balance.
M - Mind your business. Feed your spirit and mind with regular spiritual practices, reading, and education. Fill your diet with fresh vegetables, fruits, lots of water, and regular exercise. Watch your money. Get support to drop bad debt if it's a problem. Consider life insurance to protect your family. Go to the doctor, and do what she says. Healthy habits lower stress and equip you to better nurture others.
O - Open up! If you're on the edge, about to lose it, talk to someone. Let someone help you work through your pain. You need your mental health to be fully available for yourself and your family. Get counseling if you can. Not an option now? Join or start a support or prayer group.
T - Take daily time for yourself that you don't share. Put your own name into a slot in your schedule, and keep the date. Refresh yourself through meditation, prayer, exercise, or even a 15 minute walk. Breathe deeply and focus on what you need for you. Eventually those in your life will respect your boundaries and will be okay.
H - Help someone else. The smallest gift or gesture could change someone's life. It's a privilege when you can share, and it opens you up to receive good things coming your way. We reap what we sow in life. Sow seeds of excellence and generosity in your garden and let your children see it. They learn their first lessons watching and imitating you.
E - Encourage yourself. Don't wait to hear, "Thank you! Great job! You're awesome!", because you might not. Say it to yourself for achievements small and great, or for just getting up and out on tough days. Celebrate you! You are beautiful and you are enough. You're a survivor, and a wonderfully made masterpiece! You have been greatly blessed through trouble before, and will be again.
R - Re-Focus. Work to keep your thoughts positive and healthy. Negative thinking can kill your spirit and body by making you feel hopeless. You can choose your thoughts and change your life. Expect the best of yourself and those around you. Eventually your expectations come to pass. Be sure to focus on the best ones.
S - Say "Yes!"To making dreams come true. The differences between a dream and goal are your belief in it, and a workable plan. Not a goal setter? Start small with to-do lists. Read books on goal setting and focused intentions. Books like "The Magic of Thinking Big" by Dr David Schwartz and several books by author Brian Tracy are excellent resources. Want to travel, start a business, or get a new house? Start gathering information and resources. Set small goals, and work through them to reach your main goal. It's not too late! Be a Happy Mother today!

Mothers, the Epitome of Love
Article Written by: Linda E. Ross

"God could not be everywhere, and therefore he made mothers." (Old Jewish Proverb)
I would like to be so clever and quick witted as to be able to write jokes; nonetheless tell them. Certainly it's an art that I'm not very skilled at doing. After surfing the World Wide Web, I once came across the following joke about the difference between a dog and cat. Coming from a family of avid dog lovers, I thought it to be a spot on contrast between the two:
A dog looks at his owner, who feeds him, protects him,
And cares for him, and says to himself, "She must be a God."
A cat looks at his owner, who feeds him, protects him,
And cares for him, and says to himself, "I must be a God."
Now on Sunday, May 13th we will set aside that date to commemorate mothers. It is one day to express our appreciation for her unconditional, sacrificial, and untiring love.
On the one hand in some mother's relationships with their child, the child adopts the way of thinking of the cat. They figuratively think of themselves as Gods and believe their mother is simply there to serve them and may often take her for granted. On the other hand, the child that adopts the dog's attitude is more apt to return both its love and loyalty more openly. Either way a Mother's love remains steadfast.
In contrast, Mothers do not consider themselves to be God. But, are aware they are vessels used by Him to avail themselves of love and for the nurturing of their child. A mother's love is unobstructed whether or not we are beautiful or ugly, smart or dull, able-bodied or handicapped, a success or even a failure in society.
And furthermore, when I speak of mothers, I mean all mothers, including single mothers, step-mothers, adopted mothers, and spiritual mothers too.
On a personal note, my sons Brian and Gregory, one a tad more catlike than the other have come around full circle. They both readily will express their love although in different ways. Yet to this day, strange as it may sound, when they say "I love you Ma," I have the privilege of responding to them by saying "I love you more!"
God bless you mothers!
Dedicated to Brian & Gregory & their pet cats Arthur & Murphy!

In My Mother's Honor Article Written by: KiMani
 | | KiMani |
In my mother's honor I have spent the past week thinking of her, talking to her and praying for the elevation of her Spirit in Heaven. I miss her so much.
In Honor of Dorothy Lee Reynolds Sandville ~ June 27th 1947- January 27th 1992
Lord my God, I know that you love me more than any being could ever love me. Lord I know that when you send your light to earth clothed in human flesh we forget we came from you. Lord we come that we might remember that in you we have light and life. Lord as we come to learn lessons of our place in your heart
and not our human flesh sometimes we lose our way and you love us still.
I confess God as a child I had judgments about what this lesson should look like.
I confess God that I sinned and found fault in my mothers' humanness. I confess God I could not see how perfect you created her and me. God I confess I thought she was you and not a child of yours. I confess God that now that I am grown and I have eyes to see and ears to hear Truth, I know how blessed I was and still am to have a mother just like her. I acknowledge my mother in her human ways as the greatest teacher I have ever had. She taught me the meaning of selfless love, and sacrifice. She taught me how to fail and try again, she taught me how to commit to a path and stick to it even when she'd rather be doing something else. My mother taught me that as humans we fall down and with God we get back up again.
So, God I want to thank you for the light you sent to earth called "Mother" Thank you for blessing me with your light poured into flesh that sinned and was again made whole. Thank you God for loving me so much that you counted me worthy to be her daughter and witness her growth. Thank you that as a woman now I can see her more clearly and feel her love more deeply. I thank you God for a mother just like mine. You are perfect in your selection of her for me. Amen
May the Spirit of nuturance and unconditional love be alive in each of us as the eternal presence of the Spirit of motherhood.
May every mother be blessed by your sacrifice no matter how great or small. |
