"Giving"
The purpose of life is not to be happy - but to matter, to be productive, to be useful, to have it make some difference that you have lived at all. ~Leo Rosten
I have found life to be most fulfilling when I am of service to others. My belief is that God created us to support one another in a healthy way. At some point, we missed the mark and life has become a self-fulfilling prophecy for many. Instead of uplifting each other, we've become competitive, greedy and materialistic. We were created to carry out God's will, and "Love" is His message. It wasn't until many years later that I finally realized what "focus outside yourself" meant. Focusing on the needs of others can be very therapeutic and healing. The universal law is that when you give, you will receive. Our blessings come from giving unconditionally, which also adds purpose to our lives.
It's unfortunate that some people are affected by the "crabs in the barrel" syndrome. They are so afraid that someone is going to get more, shine more or become more successful. This type of mentality keeps us divided. We live in a world of abundance and when we work together we accomplish so much more. Unity is where our strength lies, which makes a force to beckon with.
As I embark on the journey to support abuse victims, I pray that I make a difference in at least one person's life. I also pray that there will be more individuals who join me in this journey. "The stronger the force, the greater the healing." Inspirational Insights wants to add positive energy and a spark of light into your lives. Please keep in mind that the smallest things, a kind word or a smile, will turn someone's day around. Give freely of yourself and bless someone's life.
Peace and Blessings! |

Writing is Fundamental Author, Eric L. Burt
Writing has been a passion of mine since going through a period of life that turned things around for me. A divorce that brought a lot of pain and suffering led to my picking up my pen, so to speak. I began scribing the different emotions and feelings that I was learning to live with. Not wanting to pursue another relationship but still wanting companionship, I wrote about many different things as time went on and in doing so I began doing spoken word as well. Writing is such a passion of mine and today I enjoy it more than ever because there is so much poetry to be written; by all of us. Poetry lives everywhere and is in all that we say and do. "Life takes leaps and bounds, ups and downs, excitement and joy, love, disappointments and letdowns" - excerpt from the poem "Show them Love." There is so much to be said and gained in writing. It is a powerful tool that can help in making many changes in a person's life. If you've ever believed that you were not a writer then you should simply pick up a pen and give it a try. One of its best features is it is a great tool for therapy. Get it out of your system even if you have to write about it. Be honest and true to yourself and let your pen flow. The greatest joy I get from writing is the ability to share my words with you and let you know who I am and how I'm feeling as well. The reason I write is as follows:
Why I Write
I write so all who read my writes
Can feel what I feel
I write because it helps me
To express what is real
I write because it helps
To make the pain go away
I write so that my words
Can help someone with their day
I write because of the beautiful things
The earth offers me
I write because the Lord said
It was written and it shall be
I write because my haters
Want me to stop but I won't
I write when others say they do
But you find that they don't
I write because it's a way to convey
The places I have been
I write and hope the words I write
Will speak until the end
I write so those without a voice
Can have a voice through me
I write so you can envision
All my eyes had to see
I write because of reasons
No one will ever know
I write so that my children
Can have my words as they grow
I write for many reasons
But none greater then this
I write because I am
And I write because I exist

Poem "Why I Write" taken from the book, Inside the Soul of Me
So, I encourage you all to take some time and let your feelings show. Express yourself on paper and see if you find something that you didn't know existed. It's there and it doesn't matter if it's a thought, doesn't matter if its poetry, doesn't matter if it's prose, doesn't matter if it's a letter, it just doesn't matter. Writing is like music to the soul, we all have our own heartfelt story to tell. Put your pen to the paper and let your ink sing songs from within your very own soul. You'll be surprised what you might find! |
Featured Book of the Month Inside the Soul of MeAuthor, Eric L. Burt
Eric Leroy Burt, was born in Newark, New Jersey, under the sign of Gemini. His earliest love was for the sounds of music. Eric was drawn to the music of Ray Charles, James Brown, Otis Redding, Ella Fitzgerald and many, many others. At age 5 he was introduced to playing music by his older brother. His brother played the drums and Eric took to banging on anything he could find in the house. At age 8 he began learning music in grade school and by the age of 12 had learned to read and play the Clarinet and Saxophone. His brother suggested to him that he learn to play the Bass Guitar. Being encouraged by his brother's words, Eric worked 3 small jobs and saved his money to purchase his very own Bass Guitar and amplifier. Within 1 year, he began playing in bands, leading to studios and performing live. Although his music didn't lead to a career, this was his passion and to this day he still enjoys music of all types. In 2003, Eric went through a period in his life that he struggled with and began to write his feelings down. One write lead to another and "Inside the Soul of Me" was born from a collection of poems and prose. Eric speaks from his heart and this can be read and felt in his words. Some of these writes will make you laugh, while some may make you cry. There are even several that will give you something to think about, but each one conveys his feelings and emotions in a particular time. See for yourself who Eric is inside his soul and enjoy his first publication, as he speaks to you from his heart
