The holiday season is quickly approaching us and the time for gift giving to our family, friends and loved ones is only a few weeks away.  This is a good time to acknowledge those who are less fortunate and who may need a helping hand.  One of the biggest and most valuable gifts that we can give is by being a blessing to others.  Being kind and giving of ourselves can be more meaningful than any monetary or material gift.  People need people in every aspect of life.  Each one of our lives has been touched by the hands of others in some sort of way.  It is not scientifically possible in this life journey to live without the help of others.

So, as you shop for gifts this year, please consider how you can help someone and bring joy into their lives not only during the holiday season but throughout the year. Volunteer a couple of hours at a local soup kitchen, donate food and clothing to a shelter or adopt a family who may not have Christmas this year are a few ways on how to give with love.

Our featured article, "The Gift of Giving" is written by Author, Arnita Fields who shares with us the true meaning of Christmas and giving with love.

I wish you and your family a happy, healthy and joyful holiday season!

The Gift of Giving
Author, Arnita Fields

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

This Christmas season as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ let us not forget the foundation of love for which this time of the year is built upon. Love is the gift that God has continually shared with the world day after day and year after year beginning with the gift of His Son.

When thinking about the gift of giving you may think about a gift received or given to someone specially wrapped in a huge box and tied with a pretty bow. But is this the type of giving that God had in mind for us when celebrating the birth of His Son? I believe God may have had something entirely different in mind for
this time of year, but have we taken the time out to seek the Father's heart concerning the true celebration of Christmas?

The birth of Jesus is built upon the love God has for us, so wouldn't the most logical way to celebrate His birth be by spreading the love of God to everyone we know and meet? With this thought in mind,
we have to shift our focus back to the original intent and purpose for celebrating the Christmas season.

And while I do love the giving and receiving of gifts especially when it comes from the heart, this year God has placed it upon my heart to be a blessing to a group of single mothers instead. This to me is the love of God in action, where a gift is given without any strings attached.  We see this plainly in John 3:16, where God in His love gave us His only Son Jesus as a free gift, with no strings attached.

So, while you're out and about completing your Christmas gift shopping this holiday season, remember that a gift wrapped in a pretty package not given in love is meaningless and a waste of resources. But a gift when given in the love and spirit of what Christmas really means to God becomes a gift that keeps on giving and giving. So allow the gift of love to flow from your heart freely this Christmas season and into every day of the New Year.

Merry Christmas, with Love!

FEATURED BOOK OF THE MONTH

Ask Nicely and I May
Ask Nicely and I Might
Author, Lorraine Elzia

A twisted game of bewildering intrigue proves positive
that six degrees of separation bridge the gap between
the sane and the insane.  Alex Carlysle is a savvy homicide detective highly respected among her peers and on the fast track to make Captain. When her lover becomes the latest victim in a series of brutal murders, the investigation
of the killings becomes personal for her. Not only has she lost the only man who ever understood her,
but also catching the killer  could be the break she has been waiting for
concerning her career.

Jade, on the other hand, resides on the opposite side of the law, abiding by a different set of rules - its Jade's way, or no way.  Instead of enforcing the law, she is the thorn in its side. Motivated by an urge for revenge, she is a sexy enigma of a serial killer who taunts the police just for the pleasure of it while devouring her prey in the process.  As the hunter becomes the hunted, two women, both at the top of their game, are destined for a massive head-on collision with each other. But the thrill of pursuit is not the only tie that binds them; they are also both driven by blood shed and a chain of circumstances that began in the subconscious mind.  Ask Nicely and I Might is a racy thriller - fast, furious, and filled with sexy suspense. A wicked game of cat and mouse where time is rapidly running out and with the hunter and hunted lives on the line, they have everything to fight for . . . and everything to lose.

HOLIDAY DECORATIVE IDEAS & RECIPE

How to Make a Holiday Centerpiece for Under $20

When it comes to a centerpiece for your table during the holidays, you have
thousands of choices. But why pay for someone to assemble one for you when
you can make your own for less than $20. Here are some of your options.

Mirrored
This type of centerpiece is both elegant and eye catching. Circular, oval, or octagonal
mirrors can be purchased at craft stores for $5 or less. Purchase the same shape mirror as your table, as this will accent it best. The mirror is simply put in place in the middle of the table, and you can add whatever you'd like on top of it; from candy to a wooden snowman, keep with your theme. A simple arrangement of poinsettias placed on the mirror will give this centerpiece a beautiful sparkle.

Glass Bowl or Oversized Champagne Glass
If you have an heirloom candy dish, this can make a great centerpiece with a few
additions. How about filling it with miniature ornamental Christmas balls, and
attaching a few bows to the base? Plastic fruits can also make a great filling
for your dish. Plastic is more versatile because they can be decorated
with glitter
without posing a health problem. Encircle the dish with some berry or pine sprigs
and you have a central attraction.  Oddly enough an oversized champagne glass

can also make an impression. Tie a complementing bow on the stem and fill it
with similar items as mentioned before. These can be placed on either side of
a floral arrangement centerpiece if you have a very long table, or as the main
centerpiece on a side table.

Candle
Candles are very seasonal and make attractive centerpieces. A thick, wide candle
can be accented at the base with pinecones, plastic fruit, berries, raffia and flowers, and even small amounts of garland. Candles are very easily transformed into a centerpiece without any adhesives at all. Match thin candles with thick ones and create a tapering look to your oval-shaped tables. Smaller candles can be placed around bouquet tables without intruding on the food presentation. It is best not to light these centerpieces unless you are using a glass base that has a stem, or it will pose a fire hazard.

Flowers in Ceramic or Metal containers
Ceramic or metal containers for floral arrangements can be found at craft stores
for $10 or less. Purchase one that is low to the table if you want a wider arrangement or a taller one for elegant height to the middle of  the table. If there will be people seated around it for a length of time, you might want to buy a container that will keep the flowers low so that conversation can easily take place. The festive flowers are poinsettias, of course, but you can use roses
to match your decorum. Silk poinsettias come in many different colors at craft stores and can be accented with berry stems, pine, and sheer ribbon. Simply insert the silk flowers in green floral foam, with the larger ones placed in first and filling in the spaces with the smaller flowers and greenery.
