The Editor's Corner
Editor,
Sharon R. Wells |
This month's featured article is on, "The Power of Forgiveness". At some point in each of our lives, someone has hurt us in some sort of way whether it be intentional or unintentional. In my experience I have learned that it is not easy to forgive when someone has hurt, betrayed or violated you. However, when we hold on to anger it becomes poison to our spirit that festers and destroys us. When we do not forgive others, we cause more harm to ourselves, which blocks us from receiving our blessings. Forgiveness cleanses the spirit and allows God's blessings to flow freely. Before we can begin healing we must first let go of resentment and animosity , which keeps us held hostage. Forgiveness is necessary in the process of healing ourselves from past situations that have deeply wounded us. How can we allow peace and love to flow through us if we're harboring hate, anger and malice? Forgiveness is the antidote to freedom.
Please enjoy the article written by, Shaquanda D. Stephenson which is her personal experience of embracing the power of forgiveness in her life. Shaquanda is the author of, "lov1978...This Is My Testimony". |

"The Power of Forgiveness"
Author: Shaquanda D. Stephenson
There is something so great about finding out what is going wrong and gaining deliverance through knowledge of the word of God and the power of His Spirit. For many years I went through this never ending cycle where I couldn't seem to get ahead in life. Everything would always pick up, but then fall back down. It was to the point where I could almost calculate what was going to happen!
After running away from New Jersey to Virginia, life began to spiral completely downhill for me. It would get to a certain low where I was about to lose everything, then it would build back up to only yet fall again. Now I look back and know that God was trying to teach me something. When the Father is teaching and we are not getting the lesson, we tend to go through repetitious cycles that become annoyingly harder every time we encounter it them.
Although I wasn't saved, God still had His hand on my life. It was that great struggle I was in that was keeping me from moving forward and hearing from God so that I would be saved, set-free, delivered and writing this article today! Over time, I have come to understand several reasons that forgiveness is necessary, especially as it related to the vicious cycle that I was plowing through. My life, as it relates to forgiveness, is a powerful testimony of what un-forgiveness blocks and what forgiveness looses in your life.
Un-forgiveness is to your blessings and lifeline what cholesterol is to the arteries. It's also like a cancer because it eats at you over time until there is nothing left. It literally consumes you internally. Un-forgiveness can also be equated to a storm. My uncle once told me that I was coming out of a storm and needed to repay all my debts, but he wasn't talking about financial debts. He was referring to all the apologies I needed to hand out and the ones that I needed to accept. You see, Mark 11:25-26 requires that we forgive others just as we want God to forgive us. So in coming out of the cycle that you are in, it's important to forgive those that have wronged or hurt you. Why give anyone the satisfaction of clogging up your life while they are walking around freely? Aren't you tired of holding on to bitterness, hurt and anger? It re-contaminates every blessing of peace and joy that comes your way. It's time to send that stronghold packing!
I admonish you to seek God for your healing on today so that the windows of Heaven can truly open up and pour you out a blessing that you have not room enough to receive! That's what I did and it worked for me! My life has blossomed into something far greater than I ever expected and the best is yet to come! Try something different because your way hasn't been working so far. Even if you can't manage to let go, still go into prayer and ask Father God for the strength to come to the place in your heart where you want to forgive. He knows what's in your heart, all you have to do is be honest with Him! Remember, it's not worth it to hold on when you are trying to climb to the next dimension in God. It's weighing you down. Healing rain is falling down now for you, don't be afraid to let go. Give this part of your life away to God and watch Him heal it. I am living proof that there is forgiveness is POWERFUL! |

It's not just a book of poetry, it's a journey illustrated by words and designed to meet you right where you are. God is calling for transparency in the body of Christ in order to help those both inside and outside of the Body begin to face what they have only been fixing, masking and hiding for so long.
This first time author dares to step outside the box of secrecy and tell the truth about coming up with addicted parents, a cold heart and mental issues in order to help someone else find God as she did and become free once and for all.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Faith - Author, Michelle Larks
Monet and Marcus Caldwell are living their version of the American Dream. Both are gainfully employed, Marcus as a detective for Chicago's Finest, and Monet as a nurse in the neonatal unit of an inner city hospital. They are faithful members of Reverend Ruth Wilcox's church, The Temple. The only thing missing from their life is a child. Doctors have been unable to explain the reason for Monet's inability to conceive, which she calls the Sarah Syndrome. Then the unthinkable occurs. Monet is brutally assaulted. Months later, she learns the news she has been longing to hear her entire married life: she's having a baby. Monet is thrilled, but Marcus is appalled by the news, and orders his wife to terminate the pregnancy. Monet refuses, and a cold war of monumental proportions breaks out in the Caldwell household. Monet's faith perseveres in the face of great adversity as she holds on to God's unchanging hand.

I Forgive you Daddy; I Love you Anyway Author, Georgia Wolfe
I Forgive you Daddy; I Love you Anyway is a heartening book that explores a little girl's struggle to understand why her friends have their moms and dads in their lives while her dad is absent from her life. Her mother attempts to reassure her that her father's absence is not her fault, and that she should forgive him and continue to love him in his absence. Will she learn to love and forgive him in spite of her feelings or will she hold on to her fears and insecurities, all the while resenting the one that helped to bring her into this world? Is his absence her fault and how should she deal with it?

Windows of My Soul - Poetry Spotlight
Artist: Fred Mathews |
When we reach the crossroads in our lives it makes you stop and wonder which path would be right, When you get there you might just be alone and have to depend on God to lead you on, You may look to your left and say this path I know but it's not necessarily the one that will allow you to grow, Then you look to your right, aware that this path would be new and utter to yourself, Lord what should I do! But you have to go one way or the other Traveling down that new found road may not be that bad just put your faith in the Lord and know he will not render you sad, That new road may have it's ups and down, just allow the spirit to catch you during the rebounds, Because at the end of the day God will show you a new way.
