Energy Saving Using the new Optidrive ODV-2 from Invertek Drives
Over the last 5 months MCW engineers have been installing the new ODV-2, HVAC inverters at various sites throughout the UK. The inverters have been installed specifically on AHUs (air handling units) and hot water pumps.
Its a simple concept, if the speed of the motor can be reduced then large amounts of energy can be saved.
The amount of energy saved is directly proportional to the amount of speed reduction that can be achieved on a specific fan or pump motor. Typically MCW engineers have been reducing motor speeds by 20-30% without any noticeable degradation of equipment performance.
Energy saving with this level of speed reduction would be in the region of 50 to 60%.
MCW engineers love the ODV-2 product as it's very easy to install and set up. It's IP55/66 so can be wall mounted close to the AHU or pump to be controlled. The ODV-2 has an easy to use OLED display.
A typical installation in a plant room would take 3 to 4 man hours, this makes the payback period nice and short.
