Latest in Fall Colors

September 2011

Greetings!

Welcome to the September 2011 issue of Inspired by Design.

September begins the new school year; the new season in fashion and of course, the latest in designer jewelry. This month, the CJDG designers show their version of changing fall color with all the plum, orange, pink, red, and golden yellow gemstones they could find.

Each month, Inspired by Design offers just a sampling of the jewelry designs that are available from our member designers and the stores that carry them.

To find out more about our member designers and the stories behind the art, visit our website -- www.cjdgjewelers.org. You can find archived copies of the Inspired by Design newsletter here.

Many thanks, loyal readers! Please pass this on to anyone you think might be interested in extraordinary jewelry and exceptional designers. If you are a jewelry designer or retailer who is interested in becoming a member of the CJDG, please contact Marylouise.

Many thanks.

Regards,
Jeanne Johngren

Just Jules: A Vintage Find
Just Jules Sept 2011

Julie Romanenko scours flea markets looking for vintage jewelry that she  incorporates into many of her designs for Just Jules. She found these fabulous Art Deco drops in a flea market and combined them with the soft pink of these faceted Tourmalines to create a pair of earrings that is at once inspired, modern and vintage.

Manya & Roumen: Love Bird
Sept 2011 Manya and Roumen mrs dove ring

When Manya Tessla was a child she had a pair of doves at home as pets, and as little girls are apt to do, she named them Mr. and Mrs. Dove. Now Manya & Roumen are known for their whimsical use of animals for many of their jewelry designs, and Mrs Dove has been imortalized in this ring. It is currently included in the exhibition "Objects of Status, Power, and Adornment" at Mobilia Gallery.

Mark Schneider: Nature Captured in Carved Stone
Schneider Sept 2011

Mark Schneider frames the natural beauty of the stones when he designs his award- winning jewelry. While much of Mark's work is clean and architecturally modern, here he pairs a gloriously blue- green, German carved Chrysoprase with a blazing Fire Opal. The contrasting cool and hot colors surround a delicate flower studded with diamonds.

Petra Class: Harvest Glow
Sept 2011 Petra Class Autumn Earring

Petra Class combines unique color schemes with geometric forms. Here is an earring that captures the color and shapes of Autumn, a stylized representation of a tree

Somos Creations: Marvelous Moondance
Sept 2011 Somos pendant

Marie Somos is carrying on the tradition of romantic Old World styling that she and her husband, Kyriakos envisioned. But occassionally she steps outside the box, and this Moon Beam pendant is a departure from Marie's more classic designs. The unexpected, nubby textured pendant studded with sapphires complements the large Grossular Garnet
of clear green.

Sydney Lynch: Modern Medieval Drama
Sept 2011 Sydney Lynch cuff garnet

Rich textured gold set against steely gray sterling silver create the frame for the dramatic tension between a deep red rose cut Garnet opposite a tiny faceted garnet. This cuff is a balancing act that conjures up both an ancient and modern sensibility -- a tactile, inviting tribute to a modern medieval aesthetic.

Patricia Tschetter: Hello Sunshine!
Sept 2011 Tschetter Crazy Flower

This past summer's relentless sun in Texas inspired these gleaming earrings. Patricia Tschetter captures the intensity of  blazing heat in granulated gold with luscious orange Spessartite Garnet centers. Because the edges appear to move, someone called them "crazy flowers." We call them crazy beautiful.
