Singing the Praises of Statement Necklaces

Summer 2011 July/August

Greetings!

Welcome to the July/August issue of Inspired by Design.  As summer wanes, we look forward to the bold fashion statements of fall. Hippie chic, Mad Men structure, wild animal prints, stripes and strong jewel tones are coming down the runway. The CJDG designers have responded with verve and ingenuity. Bold links, scroll work and art installation-style pieces to be worn at the neck are jsut some of what's in store for you in this Inspired. Enjoy!

Each month, Inspired by Design offers just a sampling of the jewelry designs that are available from our member designers and the stores that carry them.

For more, visit our website -- www.cjdgjewelers.org. You can find archived copies of the Inspired by Design newsletter here.

Many thanks, loyal readers! Please pass this on to anyone you think might be interested in gorgeous jewelry design and the stories behind the art.

Enjoy the rest of the summer!

Regards,
Jeanne Johngren

Emanuela Duca: Roman Holiday
Summer 2011 EDuca Magma Necklace

Turn up the heat with Emanuela Duca's smoldering Magma necklace. Influenced by her Mediterranean heritage, Emanuela revives archaic forms and reinterprets them with a modern sensibility.
Her jewelry is textured, organic and brashly sculptured, the distressed surface and shape softened by scattered diamonds. Italian chic at it's most alluring.

Gurhan: A Link to the Past
Summer 2011 gold hoop neck gurhan

Gurhan's signature hand-hammered style is evidenced in his collection of dramatic bold links, combined with the surprise of a single accent of oxidized silver, encrusted in pave diamonds. The necklace and bracelet in this suite long to be layered.

Tschetter Studio: That Prickling Sensation
Summer 2011_Patricia Tschetter

Patricia Tschetter's one-of-a-kind Pink Spiculum necklace is a three dimensional play on words. A spiculum is a metalsmith tool with a barbed end and a horticultural term for a prickle. This prickle
has survived the heat of goldsmithing to bloom in shades of pink -- pink gold, pink pearls and pink gemstones. No sharp edges on this spiculum, it is burnished and it glows softly.

One a kind Pink Spiculum Pin/Pendant 18k pink gold, 18k and 22k yellow gold granulation, conch pearls, Pink Spinel and Sapphire.
