Greetings!
March 2011 marks the One Year Anniversary of Inspired by Design. We thank everyone who has been participating and we thank all of our kind readers. Considering the enthusiastic response we have received, it seems the project has been useful -- we are successfully introducing designers to new store owners and jewelry lovers to new designers. Membership in the CJDG has doubled in the last year. Since January, new members who have swelled our ranks include, Annabelle, Chris Nelson-Urban Armour, Coomi, Denise Betesh, Elements & Alloys, Kelley Oberreit, Goshwara by Lush Jewels and Pierre-Yves Joaillier. We welcome them to the CJDG and we look forward to discovering their work with you. Alexandra Hart: Elegance Beneath the Sea
Alexandra Hart's Chrysanthemum ring is captivating. The petals sway and chime. The movement is reminiscent of underwater sea anemone which live among coral reefs. In shape and form, sea anemone resemble the chrysanthemum flower. Inspired by this similarity and mindful of the endangered reefs, Hart has created a dramatic design, a tribute to our disappearing reefs.

Manya & Roumen: Ode to a Cherry Blossom
Manya Tessler lived in Japan for 2 years. She says, "the cherry blossom is a nostalgic symbol for me. It is a symbol of life at its peak. The wren sings a song, courting his mate. Once a female wren chooses her partner, the two stay together for the whole season. It is a story of love & life -- nature in full bloom." In this time of tragedy in Japan, the cherry blossom reminds us that life will indeed bloom again.

Her work blooms in her signature pink and yellow "crushed" 18K gold.

Petra Class: Bold New Dimensions
The Summer of Love, Op Art and Flower Power... This Petra Class brooch evokes the style of the 1960's with its mushrooming ovals and Marimekko-like design updated with a thoroughly modern soft-finish. The rich blue aquamarine is held tight by eight prongs, resisting the tug of the ovals around it. The bright, faceted stone is a wonderful foil to the subtle gold finish.

Tresor Collection: Loves Me, Loves Me Not
When Puja Bordia designs a piece of jewelry, she always begins with the gemstones, finding her inspiration in their colors and shapes. These slices of watermelon tourmaline reminded her of petals .
