Summer is here and it makes its entrance with the marrying month of of June! Our designers have fallen in love with gemstones and diamonds of all colors that inspire their unique creations. Take a look at the eight designers in this month's Inspired by Design. You can contact each of the designers directly for more information about their work. And remember, this is just a sampling of the over 50 fine jewelry designers that you will find on our website, http://www.cjdgjewelers.org

Ellie Thompson & Co.: Through Time & Space
elliethompsonEllie Thompson feels that "Good design has a broad sensual appeal.  It is aesthetically balanced, interesting to touch, yet comfortable.  It has a conceptual component that transcends function such as an allusion to movement that suggests time and space."

These rings, part of her Time & Space Collection are truly unique and elegant. The wide bands are inlaid with diamonds. A large center stone, bezel set to eliminate prongs, will make a dramatic statement.

George Sawyer: Pattern Recognition
gsawyer
George Sawyer is one of the masters of Mokume, the art of forging different layers of gold, silver and copper into sheets of metal that appear to have a wood grained pattern. Inspired by ancient
Japanese swordsmiths and the traditions of sculpture to make beautiful patterned metalwork, George Sawyer combines the elements of sculpture, pattern and color that become a harmonious whole when symmetrical patterns accentuate the shape. Rings can be mirror images of each other.

The Bell Collection Mokume Engagement rings
Symmetry Mokume bands with inlaid gold and inlaid diamonds, will accomodate different sizes of center stones.

Megan Thorne: Something Old, Something New
megan thorne scallopMegan Thorne began her artistic life in the fashion industry, and her interest in fabrics shows in her jewelry design. Many of her designs are evocative of damask and the fine edges on lace. This engagement and wedding ring set is an exquisite example of Megan's eye for fine details; the scalloped edging might remind you of the embellishments on your wedding gown or the decorative icing on your wedding cake, while the bezel set center stone provides a fresh modern edge and look. In the tradition of the old world jewelers, Megan casts, fabricates and hand finishes each piece, which imbues the Megan Thorne fine jewelry collections with a very personal touch.

Dramatic and elegant, this eternity band can fulfill many roles, as an engagement ring, a wedding or commitment band or an anniversary band. Tracy  was inspired to do something unique with an eternity look and incorporated a french shank into the design. "I wanted to bring as much light into the ring as possible so I designed the setting to leave lots of open space - setting the stones in platinum with just enough metal to hold them in place so there is no distraction."

Zaffiro: A Husband & Wife create a Tuscan Garden Blooming in Gold
zaffiro
The husband and wife, award winning design team of Jack and Elizabeth Gaultiere of Zaffiro, create gorgeous jewelry using the art of granulation with 22 and 18k gold and rose gold alloys that they make themselves.

Elizabeth says "This is my favorite granulation style to create because it is flowing and serendipitous - the exact opposite of the geometric patterns that are more traditional in granulation.  I love the fact that when I start on a piece I don't know exactly how the pattern is going to turn out.  To me, it's the most meditative style of granulation I do."

Tuscan Garden Ring: This custom designed wedding ring is entirely hand fabricated in 22ktyg with an 18ktyg inner sleeve and is embellished with 22ktyg and platinum granulation as well as 22ktyg filigree.  The center stone is a 2.01ct oval diamond and is flanked by two small round diamonds (.12tcw).  The filigree and granulation pattern is in our signature "Tuscan Garden" style and create delicate vines, grape clusters and florets that encircle the band.  Platinum granules punctuate the center of florets and the curling tendrils of vines.
