ACR ELECTRONICS INC. confirmed the 56-year-old company has been acquired by an investment fund managed by J.F. Lehman and Co., a middle-market private equity firm focused on defense, aerospace and maritime sectors.

AEM CORP. announced the launch of its extended product warranty program. The extended product warranty adds an additional two years to AEM Corp.'s standard product warranty and goes into effect at the expiration of the original standard warranty. The extended warranty will cover product repair, rebuild or replacement.

COLUMBIA AVIONICS & AIRCRAFT SERVICES INC. obtained FAA STC certification of the GARMIN GTN-750 & GTN-650 Series nav/comm/GPS systems in the Cessna 500, 501, 550, 551, S550 and 560 aircraft. Certification on these systems in the Cessna Citation 650 was obtained by the company in May.

The Alliance for Aviation Across America launched a wide-scale economic impact survey to outline the benefit of general aviation on businesses, local economies and communities around the nation. AEA Wired will highlight a different state each issue:

General Aviation Caucuses were formed in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate in 2009, to inform members and staff about the importance of GA to the nation's economy and transportation system. On Tuesday, July 24, the National Air Transportation Association board of directors announced the selection of Thomas L. Hendricks as the association's new president. He succeeds James K. Coyne, who has served as NATA's president since 1994. Hendricks will start his duties on Sept. 1, 2012.

AEA Members-Only Forum
The Aircraft Electronics Association launched an exclusive online forum for its members. The forum is a new, members-only benefit created by the AEA Programs and Member Services Committee.

"With the speed of change in the avionics industry, having access to the latest information can give you the edge in the marketplace, and the AEA is excited to offer yet another free resource for its members to help gain that edge," said Mike Adamson, AEA vice president of member programs and education. "In the new AEA Forum, members can ask technical questions, share industry best practices and ultimately build a knowledge database that will enhance every user's expertise."

This three-day course is designed to provide a review for all 34 subject areas of the NCATT Aircraft Electronics Technician certification exam.

Pitot Static & Transponder Certification Training Class
Aug. 23, 2012
Attendees will learn the proper methods for conducting pitot/static and transponder certification testing. This full-day course offers hands-on training, including a regulatory review and an explanation of the proper administrative procedures for completing these critical certifications. It also includes a transponder tune-up course.

RVSM Maintenance & Advanced Transponder Training Class
Aug. 24, 2012
Attendees will be introduced to the regulations, documentation, test equipment and maintenance practices associated with performing RVSM maintenance and will follow with an in-depth look at Mode S transponders. This course assumes the attendee has good operating knowledge of FAR 91.411 and 91.413.
