Industry Petitions White House on User Fees
A petition has been created on the White House website which opposes the Obama administration's support of user fees. The petition states, "In the interest of transparency and in order to maintain a healthy aviation industry, we request that the White House explain how it calculated that a $100 per flight segment user fee is a fair contribution to fund FAA. We further request an explanation of how the White House determined that the most effective method of collecting this user fee should be through a new, yet-to-be-developed taxing system, rather than the successful aviation fuel tax currently in place."

Commentary: AEA Vice Chair Seeks International Cooperation Today, China, India, Russia and Europe are all spending billions of dollars to put up their own navigation systems that they control. It's a shame we just couldn't pool our resources for a common goal.
