Devon Continues Tradition of Annual Improvements
Halie Greening, Contributing Writer
"We qualify the very best in the country, you see the very best here, it means a lot to be here and to win here, and it has an atmosphere like no other show in the country," Show Manager Peter Doubleday enthused when discussing the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair's ranking as the fourth best show in North America as rated by North American Riders Group. When speaking with Doubleday, you can hear the sense of pride and accomplishment in his voice. That sense of pride is well warranted given the great many things Devon has offered to the horse show world and the many things they continue to improve on to make it the absolute best show possible.
In Devon's ongoing effort to, "blend the old with the new," they have most certainly taken it upon themselves to go above and beyond, and make the pursuit of excellence one of their top priorities. The footing is a major factor in bringing in and retaining riders. With the installation of the All-Weather Euro Footing in the Dixon Oval in 2010, the Gold Ring in 2011 and now the schooling area for 2012, Devon will have fulfilled its commitment to provide the state-of-the-art footing for all of its riding surfaces. With exceedingly high standards Devon sets, there is little doubt renowned riders will have the Devon Horse Show at the top of their schedule this year. They can surely expect to be impressed with all the improvements that have been made with an eye toward accommodating them, and the exceptional talent they bring with them.
The management team has certainly set no limits to the excellence that can be attained. As Devon looks to obtain greater funding through sponsorship and a capital campaign, it has big hopes for the future as it continues to carry on the tradition of one of the nation's great horse shows. It has captivated its audience and reeled in vast numbers of the world's best riders for over a century, and by no means plans on ever settling for anything less. The standards will continue to rise, and the tradition of excellence, and the blueprint for success will remain a key factor of the North American Rider's Group fourth ranked horse show. With the support of everyone behind this amazing show there are high hopes for the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair to keep climbing in the ranks.

Ticket Office Opens April 9, All Performance (Season Tickets) Available On-Line NOW!
If the All Performance ticket orders are any indication, it's going to be a very big year at Devon! Since the announcement that Devon will be hosting one of four U.S. Show Jumping Team Observation Events, interest in the season ticket-like packages has been huge. Ordering an All Performance Package offers the first opportunity to garner coveted tickets to the Grand Prix of Devon, one of the two observation events that are part of the qualifying process for the 2012 US Olympic Team. The other event is the Open Jumper Stake which will take place on Saturday, June 2.
The Advanced Ticket Sales office will open on April 9 at 10 a.m. In keeping with Devon tradition, a large crowd of Devon stalwarts will be on hand to be the first to purchase tickets to the day or evening sessions of their choice, including the Grand Prix. Many of the same people return year after year, and it has become something of a social event in itself! Ticket Office hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Internet and phone sales for general ticket purchasing will open up on Wednesday, April 11. You may then purchase tickets for any individual day or evening session, except for the Grand Prix, on-line. Grand Prix tickets will only be sold on-line and over the phone as part of an All Performance Package or Pick 3 Grand Prix Plus Package. Individual Grand Prix tickets may be purchased in person or by mail.
Orders received by mail will be dated and filled in the order they were received.
Our recommendation for purchasing Grand Prix tickets; put that order in the mail today or run, don't walk, to the ticket office. Better yet, order an All Performance Package today and choose your own seats!
