Visitors from China
A Chinese delegation tours the LSI

A delegation of more than 30 university presidents and educators from across China visited the LSI on May 17 to get a firsthand look at our open laboratories and hear about the collaborative approach among scientists here. Tours were led by Alan Saltiel and Liz Barry, along with faculty members Jiandie Lin, Shawn Xu, Zhaohui Xu, and Bing Ye.

The LSI's Bing Ye had a chance to talk with a number of of the delegates during the tour, "They were very impressed by the LSI's model for interactive, multidisciplinary scientific research of the LSI. Everyone I spoke to recognizes the importance of creating an interactive environment for investigators from diverse disciplines in order to inspire innovation and breakthroughs in biomedical research, and most other scientific areas for that matter."

He notes, "One question that several delegates asked us is how to break the boundaries of departments and schools to create an effective research entity-the LSI is a pioneer in this regard."
Comings & Goings:
New lab members?

Just a reminder from the Operations group to lab managers: please submit building access forms for lab members as they leave or join the LSI.
