A glove for cold days that demand a little more from you and your
equipment (40° F / 5° C).

A: Take his bike away!
Q: Why did the silly boy take his bicycle to bed with him?

Q: How many bikers does it take to change a light bulb?

Greetings!
I'm Hank, the Shop Dog. While some of you may not remember me, I've got a pretty important job here at Bike Station Aptos. I spend my days greeting customers and cruising around the shop making sure the shelves are stocked and looking sharp. I keep the wheels turning! Ah, the life of a dog. They're lucky to have me.
This is our first e-newsletter, and I hope you find that the information, products, and fun tidbits you'll find here are worth the read. After all, it was my idea in the first place!
If you're in the area, swing by and say hello to Joanne, Kristen, Trey, and of course myself. We'd love to hear about what you've been up to!
Thanks for reading!
Sincerely,
Hank, Shop Dog & the Bike Station Aptos Team

Riding in the winter months with Sugoi and Knog
With daylight
savings having come to an end and the temperature dropping steadily, do you have
the gear to keep training safely and comfortably? Let's face it, we live in Aptos, a place where "winter"
typically consists of a few rainy days in January and February. With that in mind, we've got some stellar retro wool
riding digs in the shop that just may suit your fancy. The merino wool jersey pictured here is
made by Sugoi and is incredibly soft, lightweight and breathable. It could even pass for office casual attire! Throw on the jersey, a pair of wool socks and
arm warmers, and you'll be looking great and staying warm. Better yet, go for a "Steel Wool" ride in your wool jersey on your steel bike. Classic retro cool!
Recently, the staff had
the opportunity to test out a lighted cable from Bike Glow, a Santa Cruz company, and a tail light from Knog, a great specialty
company out of Australia. For the price
you can't go wrong with lights from these guys. Knogs are ultra bright, come in a variety of
colors, and fit around virtually any set of handlebars or seat posts. All Knog lights are 15% off at Bike Station Aptos, so
come get the color you want, and slap that thing on your handlebar or
seat post. The Bike Glow cable winds around your frame, and the battery is ultra small and lightweight and fits perfectly under your bike seat. It's like decorating for the holidays! Come check out these products at Bike Station Aptos.

Cyclocross season in full swing Have you checked out a race yet?
So, what is cyclocross anyway? Aside from the fun and energetic crowds
that cheer and root for racers from the sidelines, cyclocross can best
be described as the most painful (from a cardio standpoint) 30-60
minutes of cycling one will ever experience. The races are often
separated into three men's and women's fields, A's, B's, and C's, with one
common objective: to cross the finish line in the coveted first place
position, covered in mud, blood, and snot. Sound like fun? Well, some will say that for the participants
and racers who choose to test their limits during that specified
timeframe, it's one of the most exhilarating challenges in all of
cycling.
