Murl is Standing By to Take Your Call

With seven weeks left before the deadline for submission of final applications for KHC's fall grant review, now's the time to pick up the phone and call Murl Riedel, KHC's director of grants. Together, you can find ways to turn your idea into a humanities plan-of-action. Application drafts are due September 5. Final applications are due October 3.

Here's what to expect:

Step 1:
Call Murl to share your KHC project idea, ask for clarification on guidelines, or request help in better understanding what we mean by "humanities" or "consultant." He'll listen to your project description and walk you through the right grant guidelines, either the Humanities guidelines or Heritage guidelines.

Step 2:
Now's the chance for you to finalize your project plan and prepare a draft by September 5. Murl can provide suggestions for a project consultant or help connect you with other local project directors who have successfully completed similar grants, including photo digitization projects, the production of a short 15-minute documentary film, oral history projects, or series of events exploring a humanities theme. Here's a list of grant projects KHC funded this summer.

Step 3:
Once you're done with the draft and review the feedback as to how to make your project more competitive, you are now ready to apply by October 3. Murl is ready (and waiting) to walk you through KHC's new online grant application process, if needed.
