New Year, New Face at KHC
The Kansas Humanities Council welcomes Murl Riedel as the new director of grants and programs.
A native of the north central Kansas community of Tipton (population 250), Murl loves Kansas culture and history. "As a kid I spent tons of time at the Osborne County Library," shared Murl. "Some of my favorite places to visit in Kansas are the Statehouse in Topeka, Hale Library at Kansas State University, Fort Riley, and the Brown Grand Theatre in Concordia. I even proposed to my wife at the Garden of Eden in Lucas." Murl is a graduate of Kansas State University. He comes to KHC after 10 years with the Kansas Museum of History in Topeka where he was assistant curator and coordinator of public programs. Murl also serves as a company commander for the Kansas Army National Guard, is a graduate student in the museum studies program at the University of Kansas, and is secretary of the Shawnee County Historical Society Board of Trustees.
