Chinese Films Explore Love, War, and Courage
The 2011 Kansas City Chinese Film Festival opens Saturday, April 2 with Red Cliff, director John Woo's historical epic about a legendary battle in 208 A.D. The series, presented by the Confucius Institute of the University of Kansas, features five contemporary films that explore the theme of "Love and War: And the Courage Required for Each." Following each screening, experts in Chinese Studies will lead a bilingual discussion in Mandarin and English.
The Kansas City Chinese Film Festival takes place Saturdays, through April 30, at 10 AM at the Glenwood Arts Theatre in Overland Park. A complete list of films featured in the series can be found here.
