Greetings!
This past weekend I spent a good amount of time reflecting on renewal, rebirth, and rejuvenation. This lovely New England weather has made everything bloom early this year and even the birds, squirrels, deer and bear seem more active than usual! We spent most of Saturday completing gardening and lawn chores and then enjoyed the fruits of our labors on Sunday with a rare BBQ on the front porch at sunset. We were able to enjoy this lovely sunset on the porch because someone forgot to give the mosquitoes the memo that warm weather arrived early this year - Thank You Mother Nature!
The new moon added greatly to my already high spirits as this is a good time to set intentions. I took advantage of the new moon energy to renew my commitment to getting more aerobic exercise and then set an intention to complete at least two interval training sessions a week for the next 30 days.
Will you join me and commit to adding something healthy, either to your workout routine or diet, and start this summer season off on healthier footing? If so, e-mail me with your commitment so that we can help keep each other on track!
Enjoy today's humor, exercise and announcements. Especially take a look at the book offerings today from Barbara Marx Hubbard. She is launching two new books today which may help you make sense of what, if anything, is in store for us in 2012. I weigh in with the group who predict this will be a major upgrade in our human concsiousness and that it's a positive experience to look forward to. If you are wondering what to think of all the "doomsday" predictions out there, maybe these books will shed some light for you!
Best of Health,
Kathi

Another Boomer Gardening Exercise |
So many of you let me know how much you enjoyed last week's exercise for gardening that I've included another simple after- gardening stretch this week. This one is a favorite of mine after I've been bent over or hunched over weeding for several hours.
You need a doorway with a step up to it or as in my case, a railing on your porch steps.
Stand on the (top) step and grab either your doorway or the top of the railing on either side with your hands. Place your feet so that the heel is hanging off the step and lower your heel slightly while leaning your body straight forward without bending at the waist, so that you feel both a hamstring stretch and a good upper back/shoulder stretch. Breathe deeply while remaining in the stretch for several breaths, then slowly come out, take another deep breath and repeat.
You can also do each one separately if your house isn't set up to do both at the same time. Complete the shoulder/upper back stretch in a doorway and then find a step where you can hang on to a railing or wall and hang your heels for the hamstring stretch.
Happy weeding! |

Tuesday's Tickles |
There was a semi-truck carrying a load of toupees that crashed near here. The police are out combing the area! I went to a seafood disco last week...and pulled a mussel.
Common Fishing Terms Explained School - A grouping in which fish are taught to avoid your $29.99 lures and hold out for spam instead. Lure - An object that is semi-enticing to fish, but will drive an angler into such a frenzy that he will charge his credit card to the limit before exiting the tackle shop.
