 Greetings!

It's been a whirlwind two weeks for me! I love to travel, but getting back home to my own comfortable bed is, as they say... "priceless!"

We had a great visit with my sister and her family in Virginia and made arrangements for an exciting 3 day workshop there in the fall - stay tuned for more information on our Healthy Aging for the New Generation of Women series! The trees are all blooming along the George Washington Parkway and tulips, azaleas and fragrant lilacs filled the air there and gave such a great sense of renewal. Spring is one of my favorite times of year. Soon we'll be in full bloom in the Berkshires too, I can't wait to get out into my garden!

In Maryland I met some fabulous people and I designed individualized programs for relieving their neck and shoulder or back pain, while visiting with more family.

And I'm thrilled that so many of you have decided to add Kirtan Kryia meditation to your daily lives! I've filled all 11 appointments from last week, but because so many are asking, I've opened up another 11 slots next month. So, if you would like to learn the Kritan Krya meditation I wrote about last week, and did not get a chance to call and set up your private training sessions, here's your opportunity! Sign up HERE today and you'll learn how to complete this 12 minute a day practice that will help you keep dementia away! I'm looking forward to talking with you!

This week I've included another study on even more benefits of dark chocolate - Yumm. In the book recommendation section I've included music this week. A great new album of uplifting music for your enjoyment, and as, always, some humor. Enjoy!

Best of Health,

Kathi
Foods that we love!

I LOVE Dark Chocolate! Apparently, Katherine Hepburn and I have that in common! I recently read a quote of hers where she credited her thin build to "a lifetime of chocolate."

And I'm sure we've all read the many news reports lately discussing the many benefits of dark chocolate: dark chocolate is a source of polyphenols (antioxidants), the fat it contains, stearic acid, doesn't affect cholesterol levels, the flavonoids in dark chocolate may help reduce the risks of heart disease. Now there's a new study which shows that a small amount of dark chocolate, eaten regularly, does not make us gain weight! How cool is that?

In this study from researchers at the University of California, San Diego, published in the March 26, 2012 Archives of Internal Medicine, the scientists wanted to test the theory that eating small amounts of chocolate on a regular basis doesn't cause us to gain weight. I'm not sure why they wanted to test that, but I'm glad they did! Researchers studied 1,000 overweight men and women and found that those who ate chocolate most often tended to consume more calories overall, including saturated fat, but weighed five to seven pounds less than people who didn't eat any chocolate. This held true regardless of age, gender or amount of exercise reported by the chocolate-eaters. How often the participants ate chocolate seemed to make the difference, rather than how much they ate. I wonder if those researchers were women?

Anyway - more good news for us dark chocolate lovers. Think I'll make a cup of tea and have my favorite Green and Black Organic 85% Dark now!

Have you ever been guilty of looking at others your own age and thinking, "Surely I can't look that old?" If so, you'll love this one!

I was sitting in the waiting room for my first appointment with a new dentist. I noticed his DDS diploma, which bore his full name.

Suddenly, I remembered a tall, handsome, dark-haired boy with the same name had been in my high school class some 40-odd years ago. Could he be the same guy that I had a secret crush on, way back then?

Upon seeing him, however, I quickly discarded any such thought this balding, gray-haired man with the deeply-lined face was way too old to have been my classmate.

Hmmm...or could he???

After he examined my teeth, I asked him if he had attended Morgan Park High School.

"Yes, yes, I did. I'm a mustang," he gleamed with pride.

"What year did you graduate?" I asked.

He answered, "1969, why do you ask?"

"You were in my class!" I exclaimed.

He looked at me closely.

Then, he boldly asked, "What did you teach?"
