Make Your Wishes Come True!

New York Times best selling Wishes Fulfilled

is designed to take you on a voyage of discovery, wherein you can begin to tap into the amazing manifesting powers that you possess within you and create a life in which all that you imagine for yourself becomes a present fact. Your wishes, all of them, can indeed be fulfilled. By using your imagination and practicing the art of assuming the feeling of your wishes being fulfilled, and steadfastly refusing to allow any evidence of the outer world to distract you from your intentions, you will discover that you, by virtue of your spiritual awareness, possess the ability to become the person you were destined to be.

Hay House would like to help you on your Wishes Fulfilled journey, so they have created three very special packages through which you can learn how to obtain what you truly desire. One package includes admission to the "I Can Do It!" conference in your choice of cities - on the east coast in Washington DC or the west coast in Pasedena CA! I'm looking forward to Washington DC, myself! Click here for more details.

 Greetings!

If you've been reading these newsletters for a while, you know that I'm a big advocate of meditation. It's a great stress reliever, lowers blood pressure and helps us think clearer. I'm delighted to let you know that new science has discovered that a certain type of yogic meditation also improves cognitive skills - good news for all of us over 40!

In three separate studies, researchers found that a twelve minute Kirtan Krya meditation practice provided remarkable improvements in mood, anxiety, tension, fatigue, and improved cognitive skills. One study of caregivers showed that this meditation practice reduced their depression by 50 percent! More good news for those of us who are taking care of elderly parents or ailing family members.

I am very excited about these findings! We're all doing everything we can to improve memory and prevent the dreaded dementia diseases that many of our parents suffered with, so let's add meditation to our daily schedules. As these studies show, it only takes 12 minutes a day!

For anyone who would like to learn the Kritan Krya meditation mentioned in the study, I am offering private training sessions where I'll train you how to complete this 12 minute a day practice. I only have 11 slots available, so sign up HERE today!

Hay House has some great special offers, including admission to the "I Can Do It!" conference which I've included here this week. You'll also find a few more ways that you can boost your memory, a fabulous recipe, and some fun with food!

Best of Health,

Kathi
Foods that help our memory!

A 25-year Harvard Medical School study of more than 13,000 women showed that the participants who ate relatively high amounts of vegetables over the years had less age-related decline in memory. Cruciferous vegetables and leafy green vegetables had the biggest effect on helping women retain their memory during the course of the study. In another study, the phytochemicals, anthocyanin and quercetin, actually reversed some of the age-related memory deficits in laboratory animals.

All berries have high amounts of anthocyanin so eat plenty of them as well as cherries, black currents,  red, black, and purple grapes, plums, rhubarb, and also eggplant , red onion, red apples, red/purple cabbage, and red beets.

Some of the best foods for quercetin are: onions (red, yellow, white), kale, leeks, cherry tomato, broccoli, blueberries, black currants, elderberries, apricots, apples with skin, and red, purple, and black grapes. As you can see some of mother nature's gifts are on both lists!

To help you take advantage of one pretty potent fruit - here's a link to my favorite recipe for Blueberry Pecan French Toast - a great brunch dish!

Omega 3 fatty acids are also essential for brain function and development. These healthy fats are amazing brain boosters! A study conducted by researchers at the Rush University Medical Center in Chicago followed more than 3,000 men and women for six years to see how diet affected memory. People who ate fish at least once a week had a 10 percent slower decline compared with those who did not eat fish, a difference that gave them the memory and thinking ability of a person three years younger. Yipee!

Fun With Food

A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. Interestingly enough, walnuts have a significantly high concentration of DHA, a type of Omega-3 fatty acid. DHA has been shown to protect brain health in newborns, improve cognitive performance in adults, and prevent or ameliorate age-related cognitive decline. So eat more walnuts!

A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopene which helps prevent heart disease and stroke. And here's more heart healthy info!
