A new author, Sheryl Rae Cox, invites us to the Birthday Launch Party for her book, Beings & Doings. Don't worry about getting dressed up -you can come as you are! Just BE you!
As Sheryl says, Beings & Doings is a very important story. You see, Beings & Doings is a children's book with a message that the child in every adult needs to hear, especially given the climate in today's world. It is the message of a world where we honor humanity, where we see all others as our brothers and sisters despite race or nationality, and where everyone enjoys the same opportunities to be creative and successful in fulfilling their life's calling here on Earth - just by being. Join the party as Sheryl launches her book on her birthday, February 8, to celebrate her own creation as a Human Being. She has lots of Party Favors for you (including one from me!), when you get your copy today or tomorrow! Get yours HERE |

It's interesting that the same writers, who can create books that are hundreds of pages long, stare at a website with a complete lack of ideas on what to say! The good news is that your website has no editor enforcing a page count. It doesn't have the constraints of traditional publishing, where the number of pages is partially dictated by the printing technology. There's enough room for anything you want to say, but couldn't include in the actual book. Does that start to give you ideas?
Draw readers to your site by offering bonus material! This could be a chapter or two that didn't make it into the final book because of space constraints. Readers who liked the book will love getting extras on your site-and they'll tell their friends!
Keep readers coming back for more by sharing a little bit of yourself through web audio and video. Digital video cameras are inexpensive and make it easy to record a "welcome" greeting and upload it via YouTube. Use an online program like AudioAcrobat to record yourself reading an excerpt from your book, or welcoming readers to your site. Greetings!
First of all, Congratulations to the Giants on winning the SUPERBOWL! It sure was a close game - some of the Giant fans that I watched the game with have no fingernails left!
Did you have your own competition during the game? I must admit that we did not this year. Between the excitement of the game and looking forward to the Ferris Beuller commercial (which was a disappointment) and the Madonna half time show, we were too busy to do anything except keep our eyes glued to the TV! Well, and eat and drink some more too... :)
This week I've included a few tips for fighting colds, more interesting book recommendations and some wonderful comedy. Please enjoy!
Best of Health, Kathi |

Keeping Colds And Flu Away!
|
I can't believe the number of people who are fighting colds right now; thanking God and my strong immune system that I am not one of them!
There are lots of ways to beef up your immune system this time of year, here are a few of them.
- Zinc is a mineral that your immune system loves. Sulfur helps your body absorb the zinc better. So when you combine the two you get a powerful immune system boost. This is great news for us garlic and onion lovers because these two pungent foods are excellent sources of sulfur compounds! So, think of combining whole grains which contain zinc - like brown rice, legumes and whole grain breads, with onions and garlic this week. One of my favorites is brown rice with carmelized onions. And I always throw in at least a couple of garlic cloves for good measure. A few other foods you may want to toss in that are high in zinc are: sesame seeds, tahini, lamb, and green peas. Experiment this week and let me know your favorite.
- Both sugar and dairy can increase mucous, so if you do get a cold, cut back on these items to stem the flow!
- Antioxidants are your best armor against the flu - add a bunch of extra blueberries, strawberries, cranberries, artichokes to your diet - and sprinkle them with cinnamon or cloves!
- I take 1000 mg of vitamin C every morning, and another every evening, to boost my immune system. And if you start to feel a cold coming on, increase that to four times a day.
- Drink lot's of water and drink all day long.
- Keep moisture in the air with a humidifier or vaporizer.

Tuesday's Humor |
When I got home last night, my wife demanded that I take her someplace expensive... So, I took her to a gas station.
And then the fight started... Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad... Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They should both be changed regularly, and for the same reason. The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese... How is it one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire? | |
