"Transforming Pain into Power: Making the Most of Your Emotions" Doris Helge says we need to think differently. We need to know that:
- There is nothing wrong with our lives!
- Nothing about us needs to be fixed or changed!
- All of our experiences and emotions are essential for our personal growth - and eventual happiness!
Wow! That's an approach I like. The book has simple practical tools you can use to TAKE ADVANTAGE of every painful event that occurs. She says instead of suffering, we can learn to USE unpleasant events the first time they occur and graduate to more fun adventures in life. Dr. Helge shows how to use every painful situation in our lives to better understand ourselves. Then, we become much more capable and self-confident. And freedom follows!
Transforming Pain into Power: Making the Most of Your Emotions will take you on wonderful journeys of self-discovery and self-love. The words sparkle with unique insights, examples and anecdotes. It has made me realize that life is an incredible adventure and I'd better get onboard!
And guess what? You get another 30 or so bonuses that will also help you make a better life, so don't miss it! http://bit.ly/drdtpip

Greetings!
This is Frito Lay's favorite time of year! Between Super Bowl advertising and Super Bowl parties, their sales skyrocket. Now you all know that I'm not an advocate of depriving oneself, and I certainly won't tell anyone that they can't eat the traditional American football snack of Nachos and Cheese, but let's not go overboard. Maybe a handful of Nachos and another healthier snack? I looked at the label of a bag of nachos in the supermarket the other day and nearly fainted in the aisle. The serving size is about 6 chips - Have you ever seen anyone eat just 6 chips?! Me either...
In those 6 chips, you get a whopping 7 grams of fat, 144 calories and 172 grams of sodium. From s-i-x chips. I'll let you figure out what the numbers are for half a bag... Yikes! Enjoy your handful and move on to something like the recipe I've included, which tastes fabulous and offers less of the fat and calories that we don't need.
I have also included a few fun exercises that you and your family can do while watching the Superbowl. Have your own family/friends competition and you'll have a few laughs, and release some of those stress hormones that are flowing out if it's another close game like those "nail biters" last week!
There's some football humor as well to tickle your funny bone. I was planning to include a humorous football photo, but couldn't find one that wasn't a bit on the racy side, so instead, I've posted one of my favorite photos of my brother Michael. He played college ball and made quite a few headlines at UMass. He received offers from 3 NFL teams, but the offers came a couple of weeks after he had accepted his commission for active duty in the Marines. He went off to Viet Nam and died a hero there. He loved football though, as you can see from that big Casey smile! Enjoy the game!
And don't forget it's not too late to register for my Weight Loss Telesummit! Two more exciting speakers coming up this week. Marna Thall from Thin Within is going to tell us how she dropped 30 lbs and how she helps other women lose a dress size in 30 days! How cool is that?! And the unstoppable Crystal Andrus is also coming up this week. Reserve your spot to listen to these calls from the comfort of your living room FREE at www.SkinnyYouToday.com
Best of Health,

A Feast For Your Taste Buds Without The Fat!
|
A favorite recipe of mine is Oven-Baked Sweet Potato Fries. They are also becoming very popular in restaurants and as pub snacks. These taste just as fabulous as the deep fried white potatoes, but they are high in beta-carotene, which keeps your eyes, skin, and hair vibrant and healthy, and they have much less fat! - Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- Coat a large baking sheet with oil spray.
- Cut 2 medium sweet potatoes into wedges about ¼ inch thick.
- Lay the wedges out on a baking sheet and spray liberally with an olive oil flavored cooking spray.
- Sprinkle the fries with Kosher salt and pepper or any other seasonings like curry, cinnamon, chipotle chili powder, cumin, etc.
- Bake the fries for 20 minutes, flipping them halfway through. To finish, set the oven to broil and broil for 5-6 minutes until they reach your desired crispness.
This delicious treat is 4 servings and each serving has only 1 gram of fat and 108 calories. Yummmmm, I think I'll make some right now! |

Fun And Games | My family grew up with football as a major part of our lives. Like the Kennedy's, we played football in the back yard, my brothers played football in college, and we are a boisterous, competitive, Irish family.
My dad loved football, he played college ball until an injury knocked him out of the game, and he obviously passed that gene on to the rest of us. Here are a few challenges that I'd like to suggest for your Super Bowl party. These don't involve a "yard" of beer or shots of whiskey, like some other Irish traditions, but they can be more fun and certainly better for our health! - Commercial breaks on the Superbowl are more fun at times than the game itself, so we use time-outs for our push-up challenges. Whoever can do the most during the time-out gets to relax without any clean up or dishwashing chores after the game. To make it fair, we allow knee push-ups, wall push-ups and forearm push-ups so that everyone - even Grandma can participate!
- Everyone must bring at least one brain teaser to the game and we take turns offering our brain teaser whenever the announcers are chattering (especially since our commentary tends to be so much more interesting than theirs :). These can include anything from a Rubiks Cube to a sudoco challenge, to a word match or picture puzzle for the little ones.
Enjoy these games and challenges and your Superbowl celebration. Remember to laugh - laughter is the best medicine! |

A LITTLE Football HUMOR |
The huge college freshman decided to try out for the football team. "Can you tackle?" asked the coach. "Watch this," said the freshman, who proceeded to run smack into a telephone pole, shattering it to splinters. "Wow," said the coach. "I'm impressed. Can you run?" "Of course I can run," said the freshman. He was off like a shot, and, in just over nine seconds, he had run a hundred yard dash. "Great!" enthused the coach. "But can you pass a football?" The freshman hesitated for a few seconds. "Well, sir," he said, "if I can swallow it, I can probably pass it."
My husband, a big-time sports fan, was watching a football game with our grandchildren. He had just turned 75 and was feeling a little wistful. "You know," he said to our grandson, Nick, "it's not easy getting old. I guess I'm in the fourth quarter now."
"Don't worry, Grandpa," Nick said cheerily. "Maybe you'll go into overtime." - Evelyn Bredleau in Readers Digest
"Sure, luck means a lot in football. Not having a good quarterback is bad luck." - Don Shula
