 Greetings!

Stress is all around us. Busy, active lives, driving on crowded highways, technology that's great when it works and horrid when it doesn't! We all have too many stress hormones circulating through our bodies on a regular basis.
Computer technology is my personal downfall. I can usually handle getting all the tasks on my "to do" list done because I was blessed with the gift of being able to multi-task well, thank you Mom and Dad! But when my computer decides to move the curser around by itself, or the program I'm using comes with instructions that only a "techie" would understand, that's when I release too much adrenaline and cortisol. Yikes!
Thankfully, I have a regular meditation practice and an entire toolbox full of techniques that I can pull out to help me recover quickly. Today, I'll share a few quick tips on relieving stress with you, and this week on my teleseminar series "Permanent Weight Loss IS Possible," both of the speakers will be teaching some cool stress relief techniques (It's not too late, sign up here). Brad Yates is tonight's speaker and he's been using EFT to help people reduce their cravings and lose weight for years! He also has tapping routines for stress relief, letting go of pain, sleeping better, and the list goes on. Join us on the call tonight even if you don't need to lose weight, because once you learn how to "tap" you'll have another useful technique in your toolbox for anything that life throws at you! Brad will be teaching us to tap right on the call, so don't miss it!
Thursday's speaker is Dr. Jerry Teplitz - The Brain Performance Expert, and Jerry will be tackling stress by teaching us how to "switch on" our energy! And who doesn't want more energy!
Join us either live on the calls, or on the replays afterwards. These are amazing tools that we can all use quickly and easily once we learn them and I'm delighted to be bringing them to you.

And oh-by-the-way I've just fallen into a fabulous opportunity for us! This Wednesday evening, January 25th, at 8pm (ET), you, me and Crystal Andrus can listen to a special call with the laugh-your-pants-off Loretta LaRoche. She is one of my favorite comedian/re-invention queens.

The 72 yr old Loretta has been nominated for local and prime time Emmy Awards, and has appeared on CNN, ABC, NBC and FOX TV.

Loretta will have you laughing uncontrollably, as she touches your heart and inspires your brilliant brain to listen to the whispers of your magnificent spirit. Before you know it you'll go from "Oh No!" to "Ah Ha!" She is so funny, and to the point, I can't wait!
On Wednesday, January 25th at 8pm ET / 5pm PT, she'll be sharing her secrets for:

 * Sustaining her 30+ year career that includes seven "one-woman" television specials airing on 80 PBS stations across the country. She is now recording her very first jazz CD!

 * Overcoming debilitating health & physical challenges

 * Reinventing her love life after her long-time marriage came to an end.

To hear Loretta for free, click HERE

Be sure to mark your calendar now because one lucky person who listens live on January 25th will win a free hour of coaching with Loretta!!

Enjoy today's tips, book recommendations, and humor; and especially laughing with Loretta LaRoche!

How To De-Stress Quickly

The first step is to realize that sometimes things happen that are beyond our control and then to take action (instead of REacting)!

We can change our reaction to stress, it's a matter of re-training ourselves to do so.

As humans, we tend to get excited about things that we cannot control - even if we are not control freaks.

For instance, when there is a power outage and our alarm doesn't wake us up on time, it seems to always happen on a day when we have three important meetings in a row. (Murphy's law)

However, letting ourselves feel upset and worried, or driving too fast and risking an accident, does not improve the situation. Intelectually, we all know that. But it's just not easy to STOP and take a minute to breathe deeply, or laugh at ourselves, and let our adrenal glands stop releasing those stress hormones long enough to make a couple of phone calls and switch a meeting around, or arrange to be present at your first meeting via SKYPE, or simply let everyone know that they can start without you and you'll be there as quickly as you can. With practice, clear, focused thinking can be achieved with a few deep breaths.

No matter what the stressor is in your life, I recommend that you STOP what you're doing and breathe very deeply and slowly for at least three full breaths first. Then let your own clear thinking lead the way.

Secondly, laugh, laugh, laugh! This is truly the fastest way to say goodbye to those extra stress hormones. I keep a supply of short, funny jokes handy and I have some old family photos that I find hilarious on hand so that I can get a quick dose of laughter when what I really want to do is throw my computer out the window. It works. When I take a few seconds to clear my mind of the worry and concern, the next step becomes more clear. If you check on your two year old granchild to see if she has awakened from her nap, and find her in your bathroom covered in your most expensive lipstick, which has surely stained the lovely new outfit your son just picked out for his baby, and the toilet is completely filled with your hair rollers, see the humor in that moment. I know it's difficult, but try - your granddaughter will thank you later in life and your body will breathe a sigh of relief!

These tactics take practice. This is not something that I was able to change overnight, but I am much happier now that I've taken the time to re-wire my brain, and more importantly, my body and mind are healthier now that these tools are a part of my daily thought process.

Best of Health,

Kathi

Dogs in Hotels - courtesy of Peggy McColl

A man wrote an email to the Manager of one of the New York City hotels he planned to stay at while on vacation:

"I would like to bring my dog with me. He is well behaved and well-groomed. Would you be willing to permit me to keep him in my room?"

The hotel manager replied, saying,

"I've been operating hotels for thirty years. I've never had a dog steal bedclothes, towels, silverware or pictures off the walls. I've never had to kick a dog out in the middle of the night for being drunk and disorderly. And I've never had a dog skip out on a hotel bill. So, yes, your dog is welcome at my hotel. And if your dog will vouch for you, you're welcome to stay, too."

I like driving around with my two dogs, especially on the freeways. I make them wear little hats so I can use the car-pool lanes.
--Monica Piper

Oh, that dog! Ever hear of a German shepherd that bites its nails? Barks with a lisp? You say, "Attack!" And he has one. All he does is piddle. He's nothing but a fur-covered kidney that barks.
--Phillis Diller

The pug is living proof that God has a sense of humor.
--Margot Kaufman, American writer

My dog can bark like a Congressman, fetch like an aide, beg like a press secretary, and play dead like a receptionist when the phone rings.

--Gerold Solomon, US Congressman
