Book Recommendation

Arielle Ford's New Book is HERE!

Wabi Sabi Love

If your marriage or significant relationship is less than fantastic, the solution is called

Wabi Sabi Love,

and it will change your relationship forever.

Wabi Sabi is an ancient Japanese art form that honors all things old, worn, and weathered. It seeks to find "beauty and perfection in the imperfections." Learning Wabi Sabi transforms "tired" relationships so they feel new, fresh, and exciting - like you're on your honeymoon again!

Enjoy a passionate, joyful relationship through the stories and fun, simple exercises that Arielle reveals. You'll love reading it, and you'll love the feeling in your heart as you begin a renewed dance of love!

And you'll be inspired by Michelle Obama's story of how she accomplished a rapid Wabi Sabi love transformation. You can do it too, but you have to buy the book, so hurry before the first printing sells out.

Blue Collar Buddha

A book you won't be able to put down - because this story is your story!

I want to recommend a wonderful new book to you called Blue Collar Buddha, by Paul Streitz. His story is your story. The details may differ, but you know his hopes and heartaches as well as you know your own. In thirty uplifting stories of personal and professional enlightenment, Blue Collar Buddha shares the hard-earned wisdom gained from overcoming daunting obstacles on his way to a rich, fulfilling life and a business worth millions.

Following each story are self-reflection questions that challenge you to consider similar experiences in your own life, the effect they've had on you, and how you can learn from them as Paul did.

 Greetings!

So, have you made any resolutions yet? Are you one of those
people who just copied last year's list and put a new date on it? Or maybe you stopped making resolutions years ago?
I read an interesting statistic the other day: 4 out of 5 people do not keep their New Year's Resolutions. The report also said that millions of us still make them, however, which means that in spite of our best intentions, and the fact that we really want to live healthier, more peaceful lives, we are setting ourselves up for failure.
What I've found is that we simply don't make our resolutions detailed enough! But there is an easy fix for this.
Let's take a look at the how and why of resolutions this week.
Firstly, "resolution" is defined as: "A firm decision to do or not to do something." Notice the word firm . There's the rub. If we are to truly make a resolution we must make it detailed enough so that the follow-up steps necessary to keep that resolution are easily seen. No more SSDD! Let's make 2012 the year we accomplish the things on our list! Today I have included some tips to help you chose resolutions that are achievable, and then take those important baby steps all year so that on Jan 1st of 2013, you are celebrating your accomplishments and making a completely new list.

I also have a couple of book recommendations for you - AND if you look at my friend Arielle Ford's publicity for her new book Wabi Sabi Love, you'll also get a few PR tips for your own business! She's quite a dynamo.

Enjoy the tips and the humor and especially enjoy a healthy, happy new year!

How To Make Your Resolutions Stick This Year

The first step in choosing your New Year's resolutions is to examine 2011. What accomplishments did you make? I'm sure there were some; dig back in your memory and then write them down!

Now, compare your list from last year with those accomplishments. Do you see any relation? For instance did you "resolve" last year to spend more time with family? Look at your calendar and congratulate yourself for that spontaneous phone call to your brother last month, or the time you picked up the grandkids and took them out for pizza, you get the idea. I'll bet there were some small steps that you can find where you made progress on that goal.

Next, decide what you want to accomplish this year. Do you want to lose weight, begin an exercise routine, spend more time with family? Then write down a few specific goals for each, like:

  • I love swimming and I'm going to get to the pool early in the morning at least twice a month this year to swim for 30 minutes.
  • My grandkids are such a joy to be around, I'm going to offer to bring them over to my house for an overnight at least 6 times this year.
  • I love my mom and she won't be around forever, so I'm going to enjoy her while she's here. Once a month we'll meet for a walk around the park and then go to lunch together.
  • Losing weight is important to me so I plan to keep a food log for the next 2 weeks and use it to cut out one high fat food from my diet this year. I'll plan to eat it as a treat 4 times during the year, but leave it out of my regular menu.

See what a difference it makes when you get more specific with your goals? Make each goal specific and measurable. Then schedule into your calendar an hour at the end of each quarter to go over your list and mark your accomplishments: write them down and congratulate yourself. You'll be surprised at how big a difference that will make. It's difficult to remember each step along the way if you wait until the end of the year to track your accomplishments. When you write them down on a regular basis, by year's end you'll have a record of all the progress you made along the way to reflect upon and celebrate.

Remember Yoda from the original Star Wars? One of my favorite quotes is credited to Yoda: "Try not. Do or do not, there is no try."

Take your goals seriously this year and make appointments in your calendar for the steps along the way. Set up those hikes with neighbors to fit aerobic exercise into your schedule and write them down in your calendar. Arrange a regular overnight for the grandkids, mark it on the calendar and keep those appointments like you would your business commitments! Your health, family relationships and finding more joy in life are just as important - if not more important, than those business meetings, so commit and take action!

Best of Health to us all!

A precious little girl walks into a Pets Mart Shop and asks, in the sweetest little lisp, between two missing teeth, "Excuth me, mithter, do you keep widdle wabbits?"

As the shopkeeper's heart melts, he gets down on his knees so that he's on her level and asks, "Do you want a widdle white wabbit, or a thoft and fuwwy, bwack wabbit, or maybe one like that cute widdle bwown wabbit over there?"

She, in turn, blushes, rocks on her heels, puts her hands on her knees, leans forward and says, in a tiny quiet voice,

"I don't think my python weally gives a thit !!"
