Book Recommendations

Have you ever wondered if the life of the woman standing next to you in the check-out line is as weird as yours? Could it be possible that you are trapped in a bizarre reality show, where the object of the game is to get the crazy lady to flip out just one more time? If so, then this book confirms that you are in good company.
I Was In Love With a Short Man Once is a collection of stories written from the perspective of a crazy, southern, Irish friend of mine. Laugh along as she reflects on: growing up as a child of limited means in South Florida; balancing work as a federal official with the joys of single motherhood; and navigating the amusing challenges of being a second-time-around wife. I laughed through this whole book and think it would make a great gift for anyone on your list!

Check out this book, it's perfect for Christmas!

An Elf Named Finley is an inspiring Christmas story about a boy named Finley who has spent his entire 13 years of life as an orphan. Traveling out of the city in search of work, he finds a job in a small town of average looking people who, strangely enough, call themselves "elves." He is offered a scroll of written rules for making toys. Finley discovers that before he can create toys he must master the use of tools such as belief, love and hope... not hammers and nails like one would expect.

While enjoying this simple Christmas story about Santa's elves, your child will discover how love overcomes fear, every time. Why believing is seeing... not the other way around. How beliefs become truth, with a magic ingredient called action, and much, much more!

 Greetings!

What is it about the Holiday Season that we try to cram as much as we can into it?! I feel like I'm under constant pressure to keep up with visits with old friends and family, holiday traditions like girls craft night, cookie baking, shopping for the perfect gift...

Last  week a dear friend and I exchanged healing therapys with each other and we talked about the rush of the holidays, and our desire to spread it out a little over the rest of the year. She had a great idea. Our Canadian neighbors celebrate Thanksgiving in October. Perhaps we should rally the powers that be in the US to do the same. An earlier Thanksgiving would at least give us a little more time to enjoy each of our holiday celebrations. What do you think?

Today I am including a few more of the techniques that I use to take some of the pressure off and keep old Mr. Grinch away, as well as some funnies - laughter is the best stress reliever, and my book recommendations. In addition, for your holiday shopping list, I have put together some bargains on my bundled products. Please share these with your family and friends!

Thanks and Best of Health,

More Tips For A Stress Free Holiday!

Firstly, make a promise to yourself to find the joy in everything that you do. Really look at the language you use on a daily basis. For instance, when you find yourself saying "I have to take mom shopping tomorrow", change that thought to "I'm looking forward to shopping with mom tomorrow" - and then intend to enjoy yourself. Look around and admire all the pretty decorations, the smells and tastes of the season. Stop for a Holiday tea or coffee and sit for a moment with your mom and enjoy having her all to yourself for a few minutes. You get the idea. Our language and attitude directly effects our mood, use this technique to find more joy this week!

Secondly, take a look at all the tasks on your "to do" list for the next week, really study the list. If there is something that you really don't enjoy, ask yourself why you are doing it? If the reason is simply because you always do, perhaps this is the year that you replace that task with something more pleasant, like a half hour of meditation! It's time to examine some of the items on your list that put extra pressure on you and see which of them can be eliminated. This takes some time, but it's worth it, as you will feel better not only this year, but every year going forward! There's no expiration date on spreading joy and love. Sending cards expressing New Year's wishes has become more popular in recent years, but we don't need to stop there! Instead of struggling to find time for friends to gather in December, plan an evening in January or February, when the pace has slowed. Invite people to your place for a potluck dinner, or organize a group outing to a concert followed by cocktails. The holiday decorations will be packed away, and your pace will be a little slower. Best of all your friends and family will LOVE the idea!

Lastly, if you dread writing your holiday cards, or think that wrapping gifts is as much fun as having a tooth pulled, don't trudge through the process alone. Invite friends over for an evening of gift wrapping, or cookie baking, etc. It's amazing what a difference a bottle of wine, good conversation and a few laughs makes! AND you can multi-task by getting in some of those visits with old friends while tackling another item on the "to do" list!

I hope these tips have given you a few ideas for a smoother, more joyous holiday season.
