A Question of Faith
question of faith

Can you name all the  major religions on the planet?

Don't worry if you can't. Most people miss a few. Wouldn't it be a better world if we didn't simply "tolerate" other religions, but actually learn about the beliefs and practices that inspire others?

Author Tor Constantino believes that by expanding awareness of all religions, we can contribute to lasting global peace - Cool!

He offers an easy-to-understand perspective on the 6 major global religions to help you understand other people's faiths. Explore Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, and Sikhism - their differences AND their similarities. Personally, I have always seen more similarities than differences.

For those seeking spiritual insight there is perhaps no greater question than what faith to choose and believe in. And for the rest, there may be no greater task than opening up to learn about religions other than one's own.

This is truly the doorway to peace between nations. Pick up A Question Of Faith Today!

A Tasty Low Calorie Holiday Recipe
Raspberry Spritzer
This great tasting and festive holiday drink is a much better alternative to soda.
1 bag of frozen, unsweetened raspberries
1 bottle of Seltzer water
1 splash of lime juice

Thaw your raspberries.
Then, squeeze the juice from the raspberries through cheesecloth or a very fine filter. When you finish, all that you'll have left in the filter are the seeds and skin.
Add a splash of lime juice (you can use lemon if you prefer) to the raspberry juice.

Add 1 ounce of the raspberry juice to every 5 ounces of seltzer water and stir for a delicious holiday treat!
For those who might like a little kick with their spritzer, vodka adds just the punch you're looking for in your Holiday Punch!

 Greetings!

I can't tell you how good  it feels to be in my own home this week!
I love to travel, but today I am truly enjoying sitting on the floor in front of a lovely fire, drinking a cup of green tea and writing this newsletter!

Baby Boomers are the generation that invented multi-tasking, and we are now seeing the results of a lifetime of unhealthy dietary habits like fast foods, processed foods and white flour. When I was in high school there was one McDonalds in our county, and it was relatively new, I can't even count how many there are now. We were unaware of how unhealthy convenience foods were at the time, but we know now, so let's get started down a healthier path today, with my tips, below!
As always, I've included a book recommendation, and some humor to brighten your week, along with a recipe for a healthy holiday beverage - Enjoy!

Best of Health,

Tip of the Week - Fighting Inflammation
and Feeling Full with Less Calories

Contrary to the media blitz from manufacturers of diet products, feeling full doesn't have to mean feeling hungry, or that you need a diet pill.

It simply means being prepared. Look at your week ahead and plan a grocery list that includes snacks for everyone in the family on those days when it seems we don't have enough time to think, let alone cook a healthy meal.

Here are a few examples that you can start off with right away:

  • Pick up some grapes and keep them in a bowl on the kitchen counter. You will be surprised at how quickly they disappear when so easily available! Hide the chips and display the grapes.
  • Berries and nuts also make tasty treats. Prepare small containers ahead of time, so that you simply pull one out of the refrigerator and munch away while you are filling your water bottle to take to the grandkids soccer game.
  • Hummus is a tasty snack that you just pull out of the refrigerator and place next to a plate of celery sticks, baby carrots, cut up broccoli, red, green or yellow peppers or any other vegetable that your family prefers.
  • Apples are a great tasting treat this time of year, and you can prepare a plate of sliced apples spread with almond butter or peanut butter or just plain, and set them out while you are preparing dinner. Your family will eat the apples, which have fiber to help fill them up, and pectin to aid digestion.

* All of these snacks are high in antioxidants, which can keep inflammation down, but apples have been shown in some studies to also help us lose weight! So during the holiday season when we are tempted by pumpkin pie, sugar cookies and cheesecake, let's pledge to eat an apple, half an hour before any of our big meals, to reduce our intake a little!

Filling up on fruits and veggies means that you'll eat less bread and potatoes, and eat smaller portions of meat, poultry and fish. These simple and easy changes are your inflammation battle plan!

Tuesday Tickling of Your Funny Bone!

A senior citizen picked up his brand new Corvette convertible and drove out of the car dealership. As he went down the road, he decided to floor it up to 80 mph, enjoying the wind passing through what little hair he had left. "Amazing," he thought as he flew down the interstate. He jammed the pedal down even more, and as he looked in his rear view mirror, he saw a state trooper right behind him, lights flashing and siren blaring. So he floored it to 100 mph, then 110, then 120. Suddenly he thought, "What am I doing, I'm too old for this!" and pulled over to await the trooper's arrival.

The trooper pulled in behind him, walked up to the Corvette, looked at his watch and said, "Sir, my shift ends in 30 minutes. Today is Friday. If you can give me one good reason for speeding that I've never heard before, I'll let you go on your way."

Well the senior citizen paused, then explained that "Years ago, my wife ran off with a State Trooper and I thought you were bringing her back to me!"

"Very well! Have a good day, sir," replied the trooper as he left.
