40 anniversary

February 28, 2011

Greetings!

ITechLaw celebrates a momentous milestone in 2011 - the organization's 40th anniversary of leading the technology law industry. In the last four decades, the technology industry has changed dramatically. Nevertheless, ITechLaw's commitment to its members remains the same - to provide unparalleled opportunities for international networking and the exchange of knowledge and experience with experts and colleagues around the world.

It has been a busy year at ITechLaw and we would like to take this opportunity to update you on top ten recent and upcoming changes at ITechLaw so you can take advantage of everything ITechLaw has to offer.

ITechLaw now offers monthly webinars at no cost to our members. Recent substantive topics have included: "Privacy Issues In Social Media," "Search Engine Liability And Spamdexing" and "Sustainability Obligations In IT Outsourcing." Look for more information about our March Arbitration & Mediation webinar coming soon. Sign up for upcoming webinars or view our recent webinars online.

9. Recent Committee Projects

ITechLaw's substantive law committees have been working diligently to bring you valuable content through projects, such as the E-Commerce Law Committee's 4th annual global survey of e-commerce legal developments and the recently published International Survey of Benchmarking Terms, conducted by the ITechLaw Outsourcing Committee.

8. New Committees
ITechLaw welcomes the recently launched Arbitration & Mediation Committee and Virtual Worlds & Video Games Working Group. These groups, as well as the other ITechLaw committees (Data Protection, Intellectual Property, E-commerce, Outsourcing), are open for member participation. 7. Interactive Workshops
New interactive workshops at ITechLaw conferences on arbitration and mediation, data protection, e-commerce, intellectual property and outsourcing offer an in-depth look at critical issues affecting tech law today. Look for these breakout sessions at the 2011 World Technology Law Conference in May.

6. New Leadership Opportunities
New ITechLaw leadership policies offer members who want to become actively involved in committee leadership the opportunity to do so.  We encourage all interested members to participate in the call for committee nominations, which will be announced in the second half of 2011.

5. Increased Social Media Activity

ITechLaw's LinkedIn discussion group, exclusive to members, is a go-to source for informative discussions about global tech law updates and a great networking tool. Members can also follow ITechLaw's daily postings on global substantive law news and updates on Twitter and Facebook.  In addition, ITechLaw Connect is our exclusive networking platform for members and committee groups with forums and documents to help you build your global network, accessible from the Member Center.

4. Expanding Member Resources
ITechLaw members now receive free access to Practical Law Company Cross-Border Handbooks relating to outsourcing, IP in business transactions and data protection.  The handbooks are global annual publications that offer a practical overview of the law in multiple jurisdictions, along with law firm and lawyer rankings across the globe.  To access these handbooks, please visit the Member Center. Of course, as a member, you also receive our daily Lexology newsfeed on recent technology law issues, the monthly eNews and quarterly eBulletin.
