BMC Winter Freeze Hockey Tournament FUNdRasier
Thank you to all who participated and prayed for this event. It was a great success as everyone had fun and BMC was blessed. This event raised over $9,000.
The Sweetheart Banquet was enjoyed by all with John & Justina Braun giving a "picture" of their early journey together in the "Institute of Marriage" of 56 years. Carol & I shared a little of our journey, as well Joe and Marie Wiebe who also provided the music ministry. Once again BMC was blessed by our donor support.
Teresa Prentice has arrived from New Zealand! Millie Dyksterhuis has opened her home for room and board. This arrangement appears to be a great fit for both of them. Teresa has come with the goal of ministering with children in a Canadian setting and to learn and take back to her supporters perhaps new and exciting insights to share and use. After settling in for three weeks and evaluating what is available here with SCA Blueberry Ministry Centre in the way of children's ministry, we are asking the Lord to direct us in seeing how this goal may be attained. This could mean that one of our other three ministry centre's may be a more suitable option for Teresa to achieve this goal. Pray with us as we look to Him for guidance in this matter.
When it comes to camping experience, New Zealand has quite an extensive year-round camping program. Teresa may be able to share with us some new insights for operating camps.
Teresa will be teaching VBS with the Cecil Lake Christian Fellowship during the Spring Break and is definitely looking forward to that.
I have been teaching Teresa, when in Canada you must drive on the right side of the road and this experience for both of us has been exciting and scary at times ... but rewarding.
Prayer: that Teresa will adjust to the different culture, people, new way of driving and the different driving conditions and that she will be able to 'catch' and attain the goal she has been challenged with.
The 2012 Budget has been completed! The budget includes the following projects/plans:
- Install walk-in-freezer (all funds have been raised!!!)
- Purchase and install convection oven for kitchen (over $1,000 raised so far from Marlene's Bake Sale)
- Sell BMC's old tractor and purchase a new/used one.
- Complete the jump tower
- Replace all beds upstairs in the lodge to twin size (over a $1,000 raised from a bottle/recycling event and private donations)
Theresa Busche is working on our Summer Camp Brochures so be sure to be looking out for those on our website shortly. This summer we hope to include ukulele lessons for Teen Camp and possibly Pre-Teen Camp. We hope this will be the beginning of having a music camp be part of BMC's summer programs, perhaps in 2013.
Office Help - local BMC office administration is always necessary in maintaining order of the paper work required and consequently for a smooth running operation. We appreciate those who have volunteered over the years, giving of their time, their travel costs, in meeting the administrative needs. I am praying for a person who is office savvy, has a day a week free to devote and prepared for a long term commitment for establishing continuity. We may be able to offer some remuneration if necessary, based on experience, personal financial needs, etc. and would consider working that into our budget. Please contact BMC if you are interested (bmcinfo@scainternational.org)
