Greetings!
NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR:

EB Cabin

Jude 1:3 "Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints."

This is an interesting passage as our faith is described as something that 'was once for all handed down to the saints' and we are also told that we must 'contend earnestly' for it, meaning we must put up a great struggle for it.  What does this mean?

John Piper explains it like this, "In other words the assured victory of the believing church does not mean that we don't have to fight to win.  Just because the brilliant Commander in Chief promises victory on the beaches doesn't mean the troops can throw their weapons overboard.  When God promises that his church will be kept from defeat, his purpose is not that we lay down our swords and go to lunch, but that we pick up the sword of the Spirit and look confidently to God for the strength to fight and win."

We are promised that the Church, which is the body of Christ, is going to win but the spiritual battle will be costly. How much of ourselves are we willing to put into the fight?  When Jesus comes again, He will be victorious; in fact, as the supreme God of the universe there is no choice except that He will be victorious; but what will you and I be busy doing when that happens?

Christmas Gift Bag Program
2011 Christmas Gift Bag Outreach Report

I am happy to tell you that we were able to expand our Christmas Gift Bag Outreach this year from 570 bags in the schools last year, to this year totalling 800 bags.  A few of the local businesses, Ashern Pharmacy, The CO-OP and Ashern Shop Easy were very generous in helping us get the items
we needed for the gift bags.  I also had a number of volunteers help to put the gift bags together,  as well as come with me to deliver them.  It was amazing how everything worked out. Some of the schools we delivered bags to last year were still evacuated, or had far less students because of the flooding, so we suddenly had way too many gift bags. Shortly after realizing this,  I got a call from a school in Easterville, about two hours north of us. They said they had a number of students who didn't have proper winter clothing and were wondering if we had any we could pass along.  I said I would do what I could and asked if they would like their students to receive our Christmas Gift Bags.  They were very appreciated of that. We put together a van load of clothing and gift bags, which we had just enough left over for each of the students.  At each of the schools I go to, I asked the principle if I can share the true meaning of Christmas and the fact that Jesus came to live the perfect life that we could not live, and then take the penalty that we could not take.  Each school, including Easterville, was happy to allow me to do this. In each classroom I was able to present the message of Jesus.  It was encouraging to see them all sitting quietly and listened as I shared. The children were very happy to receive their gifts and I was told that they still listen to the Adventure in Odyssey CD's from last year.

For next year, I am hoping we will be able to expand this outreach again so that we will be able to continue to include the Easterville school as well as the schools and students who were affected by the flooding; hopefully they will be back to their homes by then.

Thank you to everyone who supported this outreach both financially and in prayer. Also, thank you to all who helped by donating, put the bags together and going on deliveries.  It was a real blessing to work with all of you in this Christmas ministry.

Snow Camp
Snow camp activitySnow Camp 2012 is coming up fast and I am anticipating a couple of great weekends with the kids here.  We always have a lot of fun and it is such a great opportunity for us to re-connect with the kids from summer camp and continue to build relationships with them and share the love, hope, and saving grace of Jesus.  We will be continuing some of the new activities from last year and introducing a couple of new ones to the mix this year.  Once again, we've had difficulty getting the staff needed to run the camps, but I have been connecting with a church in Winnipeg and they are excited about bringing their youth out to be staff for one of the snow camp weekends. And last Snow camp activitiesweek I gave a devotional and camp presentation to the students of the Morweena Christian School and there are a few students who are also interested in coming out as staff. I do have a cook and some great local people who are returning staff, so it looks like Snow Camp is on its way! Praise God!

Finances
It has been very encouraging this year to see that we are still out of debt, and have been since Summer Camp.  As we move further out of debt, our focus will be on the many maintenance projects and ministry programs that have been put on hold due to a lack of funds. By putting our focus there, we will ensure that the great facilities we are blessed with will be maintained and that ministry will not only continue, but expanded.

New Missionaries
Several months ago a couple from the Ukraine, Alex and Tanya and their one year old daughter, Emily, contacted us saying they were interested in coming here for possibly a year or maybe more.  They both work in camp ministry in the Ukraine and would like to experience something new and different so they want to come and work with us here for a while.  They have been working on their visas for quite a while now and have just got them approved. They are getting everything there ready to leave and they are hoping to be able to come here early February.  This is going to be a new experience for them and for us, with lots of things to learn. However, our focus on bringing glory to God and expanding His work remains. We trust that He will guide and direct us.

Praise & Prayer:
