Become a Legacy Donor today!

The Legacy for the Children Society provides long-term support for Children's Beach House (CBH).  Growth of the CBH endowment funds is the best way to sustain our high quality programs. Legacy gifts continue to support Ms. Lydia's vision, to help children with special needs reach their highest potential as functioning members of their families and communities.  By donating a gift of $10,000 or more to a CBH endowment fund or by including CBH in your estate plan, you will be recognized as a member of our Legacy for the Children Society. Gifts to the endowment funds may be paid over two or three years.

As we approach our 75th Anniversary, individuals who make gifts prior to December, 2012, will be included in the Founder's Circle of the Legacy for the Children Society.

We hope you will contact us at 302.655.4288 for further information.  Thank you for your continued support.

CBH Gears Up for Historic Season at Lewes Beach

Summer Camp 2Diligent preparation and happy anticipation have been common themes all spring at CBH. Staff appointments have been made, camper invitations have been extended, and facilities have been spruced up as we look forward to the 75thseason of summer residential camp on the shores of the Delaware Bay. Eight weeks of camp programming have been mapped out to serve Delaware's deserving children with special needs; each of whom will gain valuable life experiences building friendships, developing leadership skills, and offering service to others. Chances are good that they'll have some fun, too!

Our Case Managers have also been hard at work collaborating with families to identify reasonable and measurable goals for each camper prior to his or her arrival at camp this summer. Whether the goal is to "speak positively about myself everyday" or "encourage a peer to overcome a challenge," these goals will become the framework for making real progress in areas of building bonds, strengthening self-esteem, and improving self-advocacy during each camper's time at CBH this summer.

If you find yourself on Lewes Beach this summer, keep an eye out for some exceptional children and youth beginning June 17th

The fact is adults, youth, and everyone in between learn in fundamentally different ways. While some of those ways are rewarded in the workplace or school, others are stifled or even punished. DCYD delivers training in a simple, open-ended method for dealing with learner diversity and for engaging all learners. Professional development for an individual will contribute to improved performance and overall organizational success. The purpose of professional development is to enhance current performance and enable individuals to take advantage of future opportunities.

The Delaware Center for Youth Development offers customized training to suit the needs of diverse organizations. All of DCYD's training opportunities involve hands-on, interactive, small and large group work through experiential activities. The Center understands that the learning is in the doing!
