AN INSIDE LOOK

Delmarva Christian High School Contributes a "Day of Caring"

Young people usually love a day off from  school.  On Thursday, November 4th, when all schools in Sussex County were closed for Return Day, the students of the students of Delmarva Christian High School reported to Children's Beach House for a "Day of Caring."

Over 150 students and faculty pitched in  cleaning windows, scrubbing tiles, pulling weeds, organizing cabinets and so on.

"It was a delight to come and assist in some of the various jobs inside and out at your beautiful facility," stated Eddy Jones, Teacher at Delmarva Christian High School.  "We strive to instill in our students the attitude of looking beyond themselves and offering themselves as "living sacrifices" both to the Lord and others in His name.  Return Day was just one more opportunity for us to return to our community a spirit of serving others."

Following a hard morning's work, the student body and faculty were treated to a BBQ lunch courtesy of Children's Beach House.  Even though the rain put a bit of a damper on the day, there were plenty of smiles and good spirits throughout Children's Beach House on this wonderful "Day of Caring."

Richard Clifton Reveals "Silver Lake Canvasbacks"
2010 Featured Artist

The Children's Beach House recently announced the selection of local wildlife artist, Richard Clifton as the Featured Artist for the 2010 Holiday Art Show and Auction scheduled to open at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 3rd.  "We are fortunate to have so many talented artists in our local community and Richard is certainly one of the best when it comes to wildlife.  We are pleased he has agreed to honor the Children's Beach House by being the featured artist for this year's show!" said Art Chairwoman, Sharon Gillespie.

Richard is a self-taught wildlife artist who chooses acrylics as his medium.  His favorite subject is waterfowl and his passion for his subject exudes from each creation with great detail and precision.  Viewers far from his native Delaware recognize his talent.  He has painted 30 duck stamps from various states, in addition to the 2007 - 2008 Federal Duck Stamp, and beyond our shores, for Australia in 1996.  Clifton has exhibited nationally, notably at the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition and the Easton Waterfowl Festival.  However, he is not restricted to two-dimensional pieces.  Coors Brewing Company chose his work for a beer stein.  Ducks Unlimited included his works in their National Art Package several times, and used another for an engraving.

Richard Clifton is our fifth featured artist and his featured painting, "Silver Lake Canvasbacks," painted exclusively for Children's Beach House 2010 Holiday Art Show,  will be auctioned at the Show through a sealed bid starting at $3,500.  The winner will be announced on Sunday, December 5th.  100% of the proceeds from this sealed bid will be donated to Children's Beach House.

Local Children Create a Unique Holiday Story
Jingle the Giant Jellyfish Finds Christmas

Caden and Cassie Schell, the children of Trustee, Lori Schell, and Jack Schell, the son of Trustee, Kathleen Schell, created a story about a lovable hero, Jingle the Giant Jellyfish.  Jingle is not your ordinary Jellyfish...he is BIG, RED, and NOISY too!

This heartwearming story focuses on how an individual's differences make one both unique and exceptional.   In this case, these very different qualities make Jingle the perfect candidate to complete a special mission for Santa Claus!

Full of philanthropic spirit, the Schell children have decided that all the proceeds from the sale of this Limited Edition book will be donated to Children's Beach House.
