Unreasonable Institute Community Presentations | June 23, June 30, July 7, July 14  5:30-7:00 PM, ATLAS building, CU campus.    The Unreasonable Institute, a 6-week incubator in Boulder founded by Leeds and CU-Boulder alumni, unites 25 young entrepreneurs from around the world for the purposes
of helping them grow
ventures that promise to change the lives of more than 1 million people. Every Thursday night, you can listen to these entrepreneurs--called Unreasonable Fellows--present their ideas and intentions for making a difference in the world. Register or learn more.

More than 200 leaders from a dozen countries will convene in Boulder to explore a rich variety of smart design, planning, policy and technology innovations that enable cities/regions to respond to increasingly complex challenges and explore innovative approaches that help to accelerate the transition toward post-carbon metropolitan regions. Green Jobs for Great Students |  CU Cleantech is a new industry-led organization for fostering university cleantech innovation, commercialization and student involvement; the organization has received funding from the state and private enterprise for the purposes of providing internships to students. Thanks to collaboration between CU-Boulder, the State of Colorado, and local cleantech corporations, top undergraduate and graduate students will find more than 24 internship opportunities over the next year at more than 15 corporations--from large multi-nationals such as Vests and Siemens, to local start-ups like Simple Energy and Green Garage.  Participating companies have all agreed to place the interns into strategic projects which may lead to additional job creation in Colorado. Recognitions and Awards

Board Members on the Move |  Board of Regents Announces 2011 Awards. The University of Colorado Board of Regents has announced its list of award recipients for 2011. Among those recognized are Juan Rodriguez, former Deming Center executive board member, with the honorary degree Doctor of Science. Deming Center board of directors member Jim Linfield received a Distinguished Service Award; Deming Center advisory board member Bill Freytag received the university medal.  Read more about the 2011 honorees.

Alumni on the Move

Neil Almy ('10 Finance, Entrepreneurship, Real Estate) is using the skills that he learned at Leeds to further his late father's vision of helping people with mobility challenges to maintain an independent lifestyle. Now the CEO of Thrive Mobility, Neil says, "All of my finance courses, entrepreneurial education, and Excel knowledge are  paying off. Mackay Miller (MBA '10), the first president of the

CU Energy Club 

and currently a member of the Market and Policy Impact Analysis Group at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), recently co-authored the technical report, "Clean Energy Innovation: Sources of Technical and Commercial Breakthroughs.
