New Year, New Reports | Deming Reports Published The Deming Cente r released its 2011-12 Annual Report and Academic Report this month. The Annual Report is a great way to learn about the Center's relationship with Leeds students, faculty and board leadership, while the Academic Report highlights scholarly research and faculty achievements. You can find both publications online and in print.
Fall Windfall | The new Cross Campus Entrepreneurship Certificate is a program for undergraduate students from any discipline developed by Leeds professor Frank Moyes. It provides students with the opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship in the classroom and to study, meet and work with entrepreneurs who have experienced the challenges in starting a new venture. The certificate program is open to all non-business upper division students (at least 60 credit hours), but interested students should plan ahead for next semester--the fall roster is full with an impressive wait list.
Calling all Biopreneurs | Biotechnology Entrepreneurship Beginning this fall, those who are hankering for a course on the business of life sciences can enroll in BADM 6820. Led by Deming advisory board member J. William Freytag, Ph.D., Biotechnology Entrepreneurship will provide a fundamental understanding of how to start, grow and exit a biotechnology company. CU Cleantech and the Power of Three | The new CU Cleantech Program, a collaboration between the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship and the CU Technology Transfer Office, launched this summer to provide a platform for: 1) Student engagement and opportunities within the clean technologies and renewable energy sector; 2) Commercialization and economic development; and 3) Industry engagement with the Leeds School and CU-Boulder. The program is actively supporting student internships, market analysis, and proof of concept grants for promising cleantech technologies at CU-Boulder. Learn more

Faculty on the Move
The work of Leeds professor Pete McGraw was featured this summer in the WIRED article "One Professor's Attempt to Explain Every Joke Ever." McGraw's research has landed him at such popular venues as Ignite Boulder and TEDx. Learn more about McGraw and his research.
Students on the Move
Jen-ai Stokesbary (MBA '12), under the guidance of the Deming Center and the Business Research Division at the Leeds School of Business, is conducting research for Naturally Boulder that will describe the economic impact of the natural and organic product industry on Colorado. You can learn more, and participate in the study by providing survey information, at the Leeds web site.
Alumni on the Move
Dane Voboril (MBA '11) accepted a full-time position in the sales and marketing department of the energy entity Abound Solar. Voboril interned at Abound last summer, and knew it would make a great fit for him and his career.

Markus Fitza (PhD '10) was a finalist for the Best Dissertation award sponsored by the Business Policy and Strategy division at the Academy of Management for his dissertation "IPO Underpricing From the Perspective of the Issuing Firm: Money Left on the Table of Strategic Gain? "
