It's Time
To Get Off The Hamster Wheel!
Just being in motion will never get you to your Big. To do that, you need to be sure you're doing the right things, in the right order, for the right reasons.
This seven-step system clarifies the activities that are mission-critical to your success. It then walks you through a process for creating step-by-step action plans to implement those key activities.
The result? You get off the hamster wheel of motion-without-progress and get on a more direct route to more clients and more money.

Happy New Year to you !
Happy New Year to you !
Happy New Year, dear Greetings! !
Happy New Year to you !
Here we go, off on another year of adventure, challenge, and the occasional panic attack.
At this time of year, I think it's especially important not to set unrealistic expectations. Yes, challenging yourself to be/do/have more than last year is a worthy goal, but you don't want to be insane about it.
Whether you're talking about personal or professional goals, it makes sense to strive for some kind of equilibrium between burning yourself out trying to meet outrageous goals, and playing it so cautious that you end up in the same place next year as you are now.
As you search for ways to lovingly and compassionately kick yourself in the butt, see what the following ideas can do to help.

Tip of the Week
Remember you can choose to start over and do better at any time.
I don't remember who introduced me to the concept of the "rolling calendar", but I'm grateful to them. Here's why.
Oops, didn't get all your meditations in this week? You don't have to write off the whole month as a loss; simply re-set the clock and think in terms of next week being the start of a new 52-week period.
Don't have your cash-flow projections firmed up for the first quarter? No problem; just do your projections for the quarter running from February through April.
This is brilliant for two reasons: It keeps you from becoming depressed about not getting off to a good start to the year (quarter, month, day..) and it creates an continually renewed sense of fresh starts and the opportunity for do-overs. Give it a try!

A Really Good Resource
Start your new year with an old book.
Napoleon Hill wrote the classic Think and Grow Rich back in 1937. People like William Wrigley Jr. (yes, of chewing-gum fame), Brian Tracy, and Bob Proctor all attribute much of their success to the principles in this relatively short book.
Women will want to be prepared for it to sound pretty sexist; after all, Hill wrote this decades ago, when using "he" to refer to people of either gender was a common social convention. However, get over it! His compelling ideas have stood the test of time.
If one of your goals is to boost your revenues substantially this year, let Mr. Hill give you some guidance along the way.

How's This for Success?

How would you like to earn an award this year for your success in business? It's fairly straightforward to accomplish: just focus on providing massive value to clients, prospects, and professional colleagues. That's what worked for Cathy Haukedahl of Flagship Bank.
Cathy recently won the Athena Award from the Eden Prairie (MN) Chamber of Commerce for her work in supporting women business owners. Cathy is not only a completely fun person to be around, but she seems almost incapable of not making powerful connections and offering useful resources - whether you're "officially" her client or not. With her bone-deep commitment to being of service, Cathy makes life better for a whole lot of people. Now if only she would actually put her Athena Award on display in her office...

Thanks to my friend Flickr.
Here are this week's heroes who graciously allowed me to use their images, posted in the Creative Commons area of Flickr, in this issue of Networking Nuggets:

"New" is almost always exciting, whether it's a new year, new car, or new business venture. A challenge we all face is to enjoy the excitement of the new while applying lessons learned from the past.
Wishing you a spectacular 2012...
