Spirit of the Holidays
Dear ,

Falling Leaves Picture
Sorry it has been so  long since you have received a Newsletter - WE HAVE BEEN BUSY!! As I sit here writing this I  realise it is officially the first day of Fall.  Where has the time gone?  If only we could find a way to slow down the Earth's rotation and enjoy the weather we should have had all through August.  However,  images of the leaves turning, apple farms, crisp breezes, patio fires and cozying up inside on a cold night remind me of how great the changing of the seasons is!  This is also the time that we suddenly seem to have more time for all of our unfinished projects and the inspiration starts flowing while we contemplate new ones.

In light of the upcoming Holiday Season we ordered and have received MANY new lines of wonderful fabrics.  Halloween and Fall inspired fabrics line the shelves as you walk into the store. As your eyes move around more, they will feast on the fantastic array of Christmas Goodies!  The Hoffman Christmas Batiks and Traditionals are in and they are delicious...many of them lined with Gold & Silver accents.

Remember that we are constantly trying our best to keep you updated on new arrivals in our 'News' section on the website.  We must apologise as we have not been quite as 'on the ball' updating our Website and Newsletter as we are famous for - we see our ideas popping up all over the place!  Our resident Photographer and Web Designer has been in China on business but do not fear...we have filled his email 'inbox' and he will be busy, for days, uploading and refreshing the site.

Our October and November Class schedule will be completed early next week with pictures of the beautiful projects Monique made while away in California. Pictures of our New Fabric arrivals will be uploaded as well.  We are also toying with the idea of adding a 'Show & Tell' feature to the site - allowing you to send us pictures and descriptions of projects you have made and are proud of. We will help you show them off. This will help inspire our customer base with new ideas. Feel free to let us know what you think of this idea.

The word is out - we are now THE place to come to help you with literally ANYTHING you need.  We may not be a 'JoAnn's' when it comes to amount of inventory...but we can get you literally anything even if we do not carry it as part of our current stock.  If we have a minimum order to place with our Distributor we can  have it for you in 24 hours (assuming the item is not on Backorder)  Our best source for Notions etc is Checker Distributors...see anything on their site that you can't live without...come in and place a special order.  To tell you the truth - you don't even have to come in...email/phone us your order and we can take payment  by credit card over the phone.  This way you will not incur shipping and handling charges, like with so many other sites, as we have all our items delivered to our door - FREIGHT FREE!  Have a suggestion for a product you feel we should be carrying in the store?  Tell us about it and we will definetely look into it.  Email us your idea and if it is unique to us, if we Love it and we decide to carry it in our store - we will send you a GIFT CERTIFICATE for $15.00 for your time and insightfullness!

Halloween QuiltHave a project in mind? Want to start something but have no idea where to start? Look no further!  We can help you all the way from choosing your project, picking your color scheme, making your fabric selections and even guiding you through then directions.  Mini lessons are always available with Monique for FREE - however it is best that if you need a 'refresher' course or guidance please try and make an appointment to ensure Monique is here, not teaching a class, and available to spend some one on one time with you.  Then there are always our scheduled classes with Monique and many WELL KNOWN guest teachers.  Our workshops and series classes run anywhere from 2-5 hours depending on the complexity of the project.  We have some workshops specifically tailored for you to complete the project in class and others that will leave you with lots of homework!  Either way you WILL NOT be disappointed with the level and quality of teaching you will receive at Quilts & Sew Forth.  We are so sure of this that if you have a valid reason for being left 'wanting' - we will give you a store credit for the cost of your class. Always remember that we always have new and exciting projects that we want to teach you but the majority of our classes come from suggestions/requests made by ALL OF YOU!  If there is something you wish to learn - let us know...if we don't know how to do it yet - we will be sure to figure it out. We will then get it put on the schedule at a time convenient for you and your friends. If the 'timing' of the class is the problem - do not hesitate to let us know - we switch things around whenever possible.

There are going to be  A LOT of changes and GREAT new adventures this coming season.  A season of change!  Make sure you keep those suggestions coming as you are all our most valued tools for creating and maintaining this great environment here at Quilts & Sew Forth in Mentor!  If you have any ideas on ways we can improve - please feel free to let us know.  We cannot do this without your help and suggestions - so either come into the store or drop us a line and we will meet your needs with the attention it deserves!  IF you have any concerns in regards to our inventory...if you experience a problem with a piece of fabric, a calculation or have a quality concern in regards to a notion or maybe there is an error in a pattern you purchased - we need to know so we can make the necessary attempts to inform the manufacturer/designer/author. We will not only try our best to rectify the situation but we will also make sure they are informed and insist they correct the mistake so it doesn't happen to other fellow Quilters.

Please note that we are now Handicap Accesible thanks to our wonderful Landlord!  He built a beautiful ramp for us with stairs on either side and railings along all 3 access points.  This will not only prevent the ice build up, I am sure you can all remember from last year, but also the huge water puddle that would collect, during rain, that was like wading through a swamp - it is also so nice for some of us to not have to contend with stairs!  Now please note that whilst we have this new great access and our door will accomodate a wheelchair...there is a lot of fabric on the floor. We may have to help you navigate around the store but we are very willing to do so!

We NEED you to come in to help relieve us of some of this stock - WE CAN'T EVEN MOVE!!! We are contstantly trying to redesign the store and shift things around to clear our aisles a bit better but then we go shopping again - yikes!  Hopefully in the New Year we will find our 'comfort zone' and resist the temptation to buy more - although it is so hard as the fabrics we see are soooo delicious.  Maybe we need to start going to Fabricoholics Annonymous?  In the meantime we continue to expand our 50% OFF section - so keep an eye on that and almost everyday we see new bolts hidden on the shelves around the store that are ripe for the picking - as in they are 'skinny' and  you can take 30% OFF the retail price if you finish them!  *Remember you can do this with ANY bolt in the store and receive these savings.*

Lastly - we are always helping ANYONE who needs it find homes for their used machines or sewing supplies etc - Please alwasy refer to our 'NEWS' section for more information on these DEALS to be had. We know how hard it is to lose our Loved ones and be left to sort through what's left from a lifetime of Quilting.  We are always here for you and will help you in anyway we can!

It is because of ALL OF YOU, our loyal customers, that we are doing so well!  We have been able to EXPAND our store and inventory beyond even our dreams in this half a year that we have been open!  We even had to sacrafice our Cozy Sitting & Goodie Station area to make room for all of our Awesome fabric.  I bet all the husbands are not happy about this!
BUT FOR THE SAKE OF GREAT INVENTORY WE MUST ALL STAND! :-)
If EVER anyone would like to sit and rest - Please just let us know and we will glady either invite you into our office and Spacious classroom or we will always be happy to bring a chair out to you in the store - Just ask!

Thanks for signing up for our Newsletter and all of your positive feedback.  If you've enjoyed it, please forward it on to all the quilters in your life. Make sure that everyone adds us to their 'approved sender' list so the emails do not bounce!  We have now set up a 'NEWSLETTER ARCHIVE' on the website for you to review anything you may have missed.

As always, thanks for being so supportive.  It means a lot to us.  Your support of local quilt shops and sewing machine dealerships is vital...please visit our links section on the website for information on some of the stores (with websites) in our area. If you know of any other stores etc that you feel deserve a mention - let us know and we will put them up!

GUEST SPEAKING & TRUNK SHOWS

Monique

We wanted to let you know that Monique Noonan is willing and able
to come to any of your Local/National Guild & Sewing meetings.  We would Love to get the story behind our store out there and Monique's history with Quilting & Patchwork is so rich in culture - it makes for a great event!

Quilts & Sew Forth can accomodate your individual or group needs and tailor the event so everyone leaves excited, informed and inspired!  Whether you want us to bring lots of goodies to sell or you just want us to bring a Trunk Show...we will ensure that the event is brimming with information, that any and all questions are answered and that each and every member is left with their creativity flowing!

If you do not have a location and your group is not too large we can always try to accomodate the meeting/event at our store, after we close, on certain evenings or on Sundays.

We are also hoping to start our own Guild through Quilts & Sew Forth.  This is something that we have done in the past with much success and it is about time we got something going here!  Come in and sign up for more information or email us and we will keep you informed as this new venture unfolds...

So drop us a line and we will talk about your needs/wants and bring the whole thing together!

Fabric Challenge Winner

Please remember to turn in your projects on time.  We have, each month, several people sign up for the Challenge but very few people bringing in their results!  This is a shame - there is money to WIN and RECOGNITION to be had!

CHARITIES

Quilt Auction

Flat Rock Auction 1Flat Rock Homes has held several quilt auctions as fund raisers to aid in serving children, adolescents and adults who are mentally retarded/developmentally disabled. All profits from the auction are used to cover essential costs for care and therapeutic treatment for the individuals who reside at Flat Rock.

Many donors donated their talents and skills in making these Quilt Auctions successful. The auctions included full-size quilts, baby quilts, table runners, wall hangings, lap quilts and others, and techniques used included hand quilted, hand pieced, hand appliqued, machine quilted, machine pieced and machine appliqued. These quilts were donated by church groups and individual donors from across the State of Ohio.

Flat Rock Auction 2The 2007 Quilt Auction was hosted by Rocky River United Methodist Church on Sunday afternoon, October 21st. Quilts were previewed at 1:00 pm and the auction began at 3:00 pm. It was so much fun people are still talking about it.
If you would like to make a donation to the next Flat Rock Quilt Auction, please feel free to do so by contacting Gail Peacock at 419-483-7330 (x1105) or gpeacock@flatrockhomes.org. The date will be announced as soon as it is scheduled and we hope you can join in this fun filled event.

We have recently come across a site on the Internet that provides a lot of information on Quilting Charities around the Nation & The World.  Some of the ones listed are locally run Charities in Kaye's hometown and the information will not benefit you but most of them are National and would Love your support.

You can find the information on these Quilting Charities on...

SPIRIT OF THE HOLIDAYS

We are going to be hosting a Charity Sew event here at Quilts & Sew Forth this Holiday Season.

We will have one in November and another in December so keep your eyes peeled for news about them.

We will be picking a local charity to donate the quilts to.  If you have any thoughts on this or know of a specific organization that you feel is not only worthy but under recognized  - please send us a brief description and contact information for them and we will check it out!

The first 8 people to sign up and show up to sew from 10AM-4PM (you don't need to stay the whole time) will receive a $10.00 Gift Certificate from us.

Quilts & Sew Forth will provide the atmosphere, some goodies to snack on (bring any food/drink you want), and supplies.

We will have projects available to work on with fabric to cut, fabric to iron, blocks to be sewn, backings to join, binding to be made and sewn on etc. etc.
