Dear ,

Wow - can you believe we are only a few short weeks away from Summer? The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming and inspiration to finish all our projects is flowing. Thankfully our nights are still cool enough to warrant snuggling under all those finished quilts.
We, at Q&SF, have finished our Spring cleaning and after revamping the store with new shelving and display systems have filled it to the brim with GORGEOUS new lines of fabric as well as charm packs and Jelly rolls. Quilt Market was so exciting we couldn't stop shopping and who knows where we are going to put 500 more bolts of fabric...expected between now and Christmas. YIKES! We are already way above 2000 bolts. We need your help...so get in today to check our GREAT new selections and buy, buy, buy! We have a GREAT 50% off section. The lines/shipments are constantly added under our 'NEWS' section on the webiste which soon will become a Daily Blog for everyone to enjoy - so stay tuned and stay in touch between newsletters!
We had wonderful response to our solicitation for 'sample' sewers and we have the beautiful results of hours of work from our customers hanging all over the store - telling the stories of some of the fabric lines. Making it SO easy to see how all the fabrics can come together to create timeless pieces. A Must see! Thank you to everyone who participated. We are looking now for some teachers to hold some classes for us in the month of August and on Tuesdays and Fridays through the fall while Monique is away - so if you are interested please let us know!
As always there are many new classes scheduled and they are filling up fast. Monique Noonan is headed back out of town to refine her skills at some Quilting Retreats & classes so she can come back and teach all of you the latest and greatest! So in preparation for her departure in August we have FILLED her schedule for June and July. Again, there is hardly a day where one of her informative and exciting classes is not scheduled. This June we are proud to be well into some of our great Kid's series. It is so great to see these young girls sewing away (future customers - YEAH!) In July we will be focusing on refining your skills and teaching the fundamentals of various aspects of quilting. We have Hand Piecing, Hand Applique, Curves and Hand Quilting classes to mention a few. Then we have all kinds of workshops scheduled with both some new and old (but great) patterns. If you don't see something your interested in - let us know and we will schedule something for you! Remember we offer evening classes on Mondays for those of you who work! We have no class minimum so we NEVER cancel on class which sets us apart from the rest. Lastly if you just want to come in a sew for a good cause - join us one Friday/month for our FREE Charity Sew Class Lastly if you need help finishing a project, you don't understand the directions on a pattern or you just can't figure out how to finish that quilt just come on in and Monique and the rest of the staff will try to help you. It is best to call in and reserve a session time but if you need to - just come on in and we can help you with anything you need from fabric selection to finishing. We will turn our effort into your inspiration!
We had one cancellation for the bus trip to NQA - so if you know of someone who really wanted to go but couldn't get on the trip - now is their chance. The cost of the trip is only $30.00 which includes the ticket to the show. We have some treats and suprises for all who attend the trip. This was a big success and we are always happy to help organize trips to some of the areas Quilting attractions. Just let us know when you hear of something and we will do our best to accomodate you.
Speaking of accomodating your needs - many people have expressed an interest in having our Scissor Sharpening Guru come back. WE LISTENED TO YOU and he is coming on June 19th. This Friday he will be here from 1PM to 5PM to sharpen anything while you wait! So gather up all of your scissors and knives and stop on in!
Jill Milan has been busy quilting away and amazing everyone with her finsihed quilts. Not only are the quilts turning out just beautiful but they are being turned out in record time. Average turnaround time is 1-2 weeks for a King size quilt. Our prices are unbeatable and our choice of patterns unsurpassed. Keep in mind that anyone who takes a class at Quilts & Sew Forth and brings in their finished project to be quilted will receive a 10% discount on all associated charges. And for those of you that just love piecing and can't stand the finishing process - we offer binding services as well.
Lastly - we all put so much time and effort into our projects. We cherish them and pass them on with Love. Wouldn't it be great if we could have them appraised and know for sure that they were protected under our insurance policies? Wouldn't it be great to know the value of something we made or bought in case we want to sell it in the future. Well Q&SF has found a great company to do just that for you. "I Have a Quilt" is a business with services that include appraising, lecturing and judging of Quilts. They have over 45 years of experience in the quilt world and can give you a written document that describes your quilt, assesses its condition, assigns a dollar value and photographs it. This service may be used for old, newly made or art quilts and not only helps you protect your investment but aids you in the care and use of that special project/asset. Visit their Website at http://deedadik.home.att.net/ for more information...let them know we referred you!
Lastly we are holding some machines for clients who are looking to sell them. These are GREAT deals that you can't go wrong with! The first is Pfaff Creative Vision Sewing Machine for $3950.00 - it only has 10 hours on it! The second is a Mini Long Arm Quilter: Pfaff Grand Quilter 1200 w. Inspira frame (5' or10') - Used twice. Free delivery & set-up within 40 miles of Chardon - MSRP: $4500-yours for just $2670. Then Q&SF still has one Bernina left for only $3,999.00 - check it out!
Thank you to all of you who have signed up for our Newsletter and your positive response! If you've enjoyed it, please pass it on to all the 'Quilters' in your life and as always, thanks for being so supportive of us and our website. It's a JOY to serve you and your purchases from Q&SF are greatly appreciated. Lastly - your support of local quilt shops and sewing machine dealerships is vital...please visit our links section on the website for information on some of the stores, with websites, in our area.

LUCKY DRAW & RESULTS
We had a lucky draw last month and we are Happy to announce that Sue Murphy of Mentor, OH was our winner. Sue will take home a $25.00 Gift Certificate to Quilts & Sew Forth.
We posed some questions and here are the answers;
1. Should you cut your batting on your cutting board? If you cut your batting on your cutting board, you embed tiny particles from your batting that will not escape from the small cut in the board. this creates mini speed bumps that will affect your accuracy when rotary cutting. If you need to cut your batting with a rotary cutter, turn your board over and use the back side. It will work fine, thus avoiding damaging the lined surface on the other side.
2. Which needles have big eyes, and sharp points? Tapestry needles, quilting needles or chenille needles? The chenille needle has a large eye for ease of threading, yet a very sharp point. The tapestry needle has a large eye with a dull point, and a quilting needle tends to be quite small with a small eye and sharp point.
3. When you haven't quite got the exact match for your thread, do you choose the darker thread or the lighter thread? Always choose the darker thread. It will blend in much better than the light one.
4. How many yards of fabric does Quilts & Sew Forth carry in its shop approx?
20,000
5. What does Quilts & Sew Forth charge for basic Machine Quilting on their Statler Stitcher Supreme?
1.5 cents per square inch
6. What can you do with an old rotary blade if you don't wish to throw it out?
Use it for paper cutting
7. What is the biggest difference between the fabric we carry here at Quilts & Sew Forth and the fabric you buy at a Chain store?
Quality is much higher at Q&SF - Q&SF only carries first run, grade A quality Gray goods where as chain stores deal in seconds and thirds.
8. Where do Batiks come from and how are they made?
Batiks generally come from Indonesia and are hand crafted - one bolt at a time. Each bolt is hand dyed and laid in the sun to dry.
9. Is it true that Quilts & Sew Forth sells all of their book titles at 20% below suggested retail?
Yes - they have done this to compete with Amazon.com - there is no incentive to buy online and pay shipping when you can have it right away at such a good price!
10. You have just attended a great Quilt class at Quilts & Sew Forth and you want to share everything you have learned with your friends and Quilt Guild. You photocopy the notes & patterns and hand them out. Have you breached copyright law? You have not written the notes to you do not own the copyright to the notes. You will have breached copyright law if you photocopy the notes without permission from the copyright owner.
Thank you so much to all of you who participated this month - we had fun reading all of your answers and anecdotes - keep them coming. Once our blog is up and running in the next week or so - this will be a great forum to keep everyone involved and a usefull tool for transferring information and tips!
This month ur challenge is called "Toughest Question" - try and stump Monique Noonan with a tough, Quilting related, question and we will send you a $25.00 Gift certificate. * keep in mind that Gift Certificates are available all the time for purchase by coming in, phone or email.
