| Member of the Month
60 Second Interview
Hans Tober owner of the Grangeside Business Support Centre in Hilperton is October's Member of the Month. If you want to know more about the facilities that Grangeside can offer you can visit their website for details.
What motivates you?
Happy customers, honestly it's the best kick I get out of this.
Who do you admire in the world of business and why?
I admire those that take their social and global responsibilities seriously and apply it cleverly. Successful businessmen who aren't afraid to dish out their (b)millions to make a difference and are doing it effectively.
What is your business philosophy?
Earn a lot and give a lots. But we still have a way to go yet.
Why is corporate social responsibility important to your business?
I am not sure it is really. I think it is more a mindset or a culture that either exist in a business or not. If it exists then it can be channelled so that a business will benefit.
What would your advice be to anyone wondering if their business can benefit from joining Business against Poverty?
Don't think what BaP can do for you but what you can do for BaP.

Harvest!
We are now entering the autumn months, a time associated with Harvest whether that is in in the fields around us or our schools and church services. For us this is also a busy time. Having just had our AGM it brought to my attention all the work that with your support we have achieved over the last year.
Although funds have been very restricted, it appears that we have physically achieved so much. You will hear all about this in our December issue of this newsletter, but for a taster and to name just a few, over 7 Sanctuary Homes have been built since the inception of the scheme and it is a project that continues to grow as new schools come on board. Dobrovat House is complete, real progress is being made in Haiti (more below) and Nepal is on the cusp of change. Although Business against Poverty has had a slight drop in membership, as some businesses have had to make tough choices, our income has increased by 100% making it even more key to our work.
We are now making preparations for our annual Black and White Ball, the winter Awareness trip to Romania and other smaller fundraising events. Please follow us on FB, Twitter and Linkedin if you want to hear about these events and how to book, but also visit our website on a regular basis as this too is updated regularly.
I hope that as you think about what you have achieved this year you will remember everything that has been done by you through our partnership, a Harvest to be proud of!

Welcome!
Over the next few months we will be introducing them all in more detail. This month we are focusing on Rob Beale Ltd, a well established company offering liquid waste management, temporary toilet, container and fencing hire.
Rob and his wife Janet told us what it was that prompted them to join BaP "What attracted us to Business against Poverty was the fact that it is a Wiltshire Christian organisation, we also like the fact that they think outside the box in the way they operate and don't just put their hand out asking for money."
Thinking outside of the box is obviously something that rings true with Rob as since establishing in 1986 as an agricultural haulier he diversified first into septic tank emptying, portable toilets and then small containers and temporary fencing. This means they can provide a one stop shop for builders wanting to use loos and secure the area. Recently the firm, having taken on board increasing health and safety and site welfare regulations, started supplying self contained wheeled welfare units and temporary gas shower units.
Before you think that Rob's business is all about the trades he and Janet have also added luxury loos to their portfolio, making them a definite must have for all outdoor events and weddings! If you want to learn more about the services Rob can offer visit the website.

Advertising Offer
You cannot have failed to have noticed the amazing advert, at the start of this newsletter, designed and donated by Jules Ashford of Triangle Design, and generously sponsored by ITS. This particular advert went out in September and we are now looking at finding a partner for October.
The image you see is just one in a series designed by Julie. Wiltshire Newsquest, who distribute across the Wessex area, have made us an amazing offer whereby we can have an advert placed each month for the next 12 months at a much reduced cost. The price would normally be £294 however our price will be £200! In addition the first 5 businesses to book will also have an editorial to accompany their advert. We are expecting this to be a very popular offer so please don't hesitate to email us, particularly if you want to book a specific month as it will be on a first come first serve basis.

Christmas Cards
Last month we told you how we were collaborating with renowned artist Mark Benham in order to produce exclusive Christmas cards this year. Cards are now available for purchase, and below is just one of the designs.
The A5 size cards come in a pack of 8, each containing 2 individual designs and greetings. Packs cost £4 for orders up to 4 packs, £3 for orders up to 9 packs and anyone ordering 10 or more will pay only £2.50 a pack which is a bargain price of just over 31p per card! Please email us in the office to order now!
This year, through the generosity of Mark giving his designs for free and Opal Print (our new Gold BaP members) donating the raw materials and printing 100% of the cost of the cards will come to the charity! That is far more than any other charity card we aware of, so you can be sure that not only is your money making a difference but the spirit of Christmas really is alive!

News from Haiti
This month we have received some exciting news from Gertrude in Haiti, two sets of siblings are up for permanent adoption. One family of three siblings is currently part way through the adoption process with an American couple. The second set is just starting the process which will take up to 6 months. This is particularly good news as siblings can be difficult to place with prospective parents as many feel overwhelmed by the thought of taking on more than one child.
In addition to this work on the dormitories has been progressing well, meaning that work can start on the next project, chickens! £350 has been raised to build chicken coups and fill them with the birds needed to provided the children with a much needed source of cheap nourishment.
