PR Tip of the Month:
Top 3 "Do's" of a Crisis
1. Do talk to the media. Silence is never perceived in a positive way. Don't let the media frame the story without your input.
2. Do formulate a consistent message. When talking to the media, stick with your key message to avoid confusion and blame.
3. Do take the initiative.
Show that you are proactively working to not only correct the current situation, but also taking steps to ensure it won't happen again.

Black Twig's Best and Worst Super Bowl Ad Picks With a viewership of over 100 million, this year's Super Bowl became the most watched television event, ever. While no Missouri or New York teams made the big game, Black Twig watched intently - the commercials, that is. Advertisers spent $100,000 per second ($3 million for a 30 second spot) to get their ads in front of us. This year's commercials were a crop of remakes and sequels. CareerBuilder relied upon chimps again while E-trade's talking baby made another appearance. GoDaddy introduced yet another GoDaddy "girl" - Joan Rivers - who was more creepy than funny. Overall most advertisers tried to make us laugh and made an effort to startle or impress us with state-of-the-art video technology. As producers of two Super Bowl ads in the past, here are Black Twig's top picks.
The Best
The Worst
It was not one of the great years for commercials. While a number of the spots were visually stimulating (Coke's fire breathing dragon), most were misfires. Chevy's send-off of senior citizens was in poor taste, Ozzy Osbourne was scary and none of the spots were historically significant. Even the Bridgestone halftime show was flat.
On a positive note, the game was competitive and if you didn't care about the commercials, at least they didn't rival the game. |
