Let's Go Fishing!
There's an atmosphere of excitement throughout the Bahamas and especially here in the Abacos as we approach the start of the Bahamas Billfish Championship's 2012 season. The Guana Cay Championship, hosted by MarineMax and Hatteras Yachts, marks the beginning of the BBC's 39th year as a series.
With less than a week before the kick-off of the Guana Cay Championship, many of the participating boats have already arrived in the Abacos. And who can blame them? Virtually all the Abaco marinas are offering some incredible dockage rates this spring. As an example, Orchid Bay Yacht Club & Marina, host resort for the Guana Cay Championship, is offering special rates of $1.00/foot/day for BBC boats staying ten days or longer.
Orchid Bay has rolled out the red carpet for the BBC fleet with more than just great dockage rates. Jimmy Albury will be there each morning at 6:00 AM serving complimentary coffee and pastries for the Morning Eye Opener. And it would not surprise me to find Melonie Albury making conch fritters for each afternoon's weigh-in and picture review.
With more than twenty boats expected to participate in the opening tournament, the entire island of Great Guana Cay is gearing-up to make the BBC anglers and crews feel welcome. Thanks to MarineMax, there will be cocktail receptions for all BBC teams at Nipper's on Thursday and Grabber's on Friday. Click here for the complete Schedule of Events for the Guana Cay Championship.
Remember tournament Registration and Award Pool sign-up hours are from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Tuesday at the Orchid Bay Marina office and poolside.
